Mrs. Salvo and Sevens,

You guys seem to really know the WF brand well. I am really struggling with two choices for a 1.15 RB that is in my original solitaire. The first choice is the W Prong in platinum or 18 K yellow gold. The second choice is the RB halo that a few PSers have had made. The pics of it on here are beautiful, but in person it is even more so.

Some background: I have a Tiffany Legacy deep blue tanzanite with a halo setting that I wear on my right hand. Part of the drive to reset the diamond from my ER is to better coordinate with the Legacy. Having said that, I don''t necessarily want a halo on my left hand and one on my right hand. The halo is incredible and the diamonds (all full cut) are ACA''s. It would make the 1.15 RB appear larger than it is. OTOH, I actually prefer the sleek, artistic line of the W Prong. It is so incredible and the lines just really flow. It reminds me of a Lucida setting, but with a twist. And I absolutely love it. I mean, I LOVE it. I know where I am leaning, but I really want your unbiased opinions on which style you like better.

Thank you so much if you have time to opine. Oh, and please your opinion on yellow gold versus platinum. I know this means that I will have yellow on one and white on the other. But I do love yellow. And thoughts you have, any input at all, is greatly appreciated.

Get the w-prong. I know I am not the two called for here, but I think two halo rings is a bit much if you want to wear them all the time. The w-prong would be classic and beautiful with a 1.15 ACA! And you don't want anything to compete with that gorgeous legacy

Hi Neatfreak! I am really thankful for your input. Sadly, my 1.15 is NOT an ACA. That will have to wait until the 15 year anniversary upgrade...4 years, 3 months, two weeks and counting...LOL

The current RB will be put into the new WF setting, and that will have to get me through until I can do the major upgrade. I am really thankful for your opinion. I hope some others will chime in as well! :-)

Hmmmm..if it were your only ring and you didn''t love YG, I would say the halo - as you''ve mentioned, it does look lovely in the pics here on PS..
I am also a yellow and rose gold lover, so i understand your indecision
I have to agree with Neat, go with the W prong, and save the halo for your RH. Also if you like YG, go for it. Personally I think plat is just too expensive at moment.

Just to confuse you further, I really like the Legato from WF too..

Thanks Arjun! I am leaning toward the W prong myself b/c I don''t want to be too matchy/matchy. And with the Legacy center stone being almost 3 carats, I don''t want my ER to compete with my RHR...and lose. (Which it would). So, I am also a lover of solitaires. The one thing that I am also mulling over is the issue of the cost of platinum. I have a real psychological preference for platinum, though Brian was showing me some palladium rings that are slightly less expensive. I think I prefer platinum even though it will cost a little more. I do LOVE yellow gold, but I already have that. Since I am changing the setting, I was thinking I might as well give a white metal a try. This is probably a temporary setting to last 5 years before I can do a real upgrade, so if I don''t love the white metal, I can revert to yellow gold when it comes time to revamp the ring. Thank you so much for your insight. I hope others will chime in before I pull the trigger! LOL

No probs

Just re the metal - if it will not be your permanent set, I would get white gold and not plat, simply due to the cost involved. I would want to Really love my set to have it made in plat, and also want it to last forever. But thats just me. In ~5 years you should only have minimal care for WG, say 2/3 rhodiu plate tops.

Thanks Arjun. What are your thoughts on palladium?

So whiteflash does palladium?

Apparently. I was told I could have my ring set in 18K white gold, yellow gold, platinum, or palladium. I am trying to decide between the gold and the platinum.

That''s good to hear because I was thinking of getting a wedding band from WF and knowing they can set in palladium helps. Do you know if it''s priced like white gold?

I''m pretty sure it is a little more expensive than white gold b/c it doesn''t need re-plating. It''s less costly than platinum.

Hi Isabelle,
You''ve gotten some great input so far. I agree with the one''s who voted for no halo on the e-ring since you''ve got the legacy as a RHR. I personally love the W prong too and think it would be a lovely choice. I''m a huge fan of platinum but if this is only a temp setting, even for a few years, I wouldn''t spend the money. I would however consider palladium if it were me. Less costly than plat. but many of the same characteristics and no need for replating which I like. Of course, yellow gold can be gorgeous too and if you love it then you might consider it. Do you have a lot of other YG jewelry?

Thank you Mrs. Salvo! I couldn''t decide what to do. But one thing I did do is let Brian take my diamond out to RECUT it!! I''m rather worried. But I am also rather excited. They took lots of "before" pics of the ring and the diamond and then there will be "afters". I am going to post them all, along with the sarin analysis. This should be pretty interesting. I can''t wait. The original carat weight was, it turned out 1.16, and the color is a G, not an H. Interesting. We''ll see how things change after the cutting, especially, I am guessing the performance of the diamond. Can''t wait! Thank you so much for your input and I will keep you guys posted!

Hey again - personally i don''t have any experience with it, but I have only heard good things. I think its a good compromise if you want a white metal.
