Hi again,

Have you all heard of Brilliance.com? Thoughts? Prices seem amazing.

Also, from Pricescope I've learned that cut is the most important "C". I never knew that. I always thought clarity, then color were the most important.

Should I care about what type of report the stone comes with? GIA, EGL, IGI?? Confused on this.

Thanks!

If the prices seem too good to be true, then they are. I am not familiar with brilliance.com, but others maybe. It is recommended to stick with AGS and GIA stones only. Any other lab and you may be not getting what you are paying for. And YES, cut is the most important part of the diamond. It is what makes it sparkle! Read some of the tutorials on here to educate yourself. Let everyone here know your budget and what kind of diamond ring you are looking for. Just did a quick search using the PS search engine. Based it on your budget of $2000 - $2500 (from the other diamond you linked). Here are either AGS000 or 1 GIAXVGX stones from JA, all with excellent HCA scores

1) http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1519691.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131 .71H SI2, PS wire price $2005
2) http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1479338.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131 .70 H SI2, PS wire price $2029
3) http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1512301.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131 .75 I SI1, PS wire price $2167.

You can chat for further input and have one of their GG's examine to be eye clean (you determine what distance eye clean you want - normally done at 12" and top down, but ask further if that would be an issue). You can also request a grand total of 3 IS reports. They are a good PS recommended company and have a good variety of simple and detailed ring settings, to can work with your total ring budget.

I agree with the others that GIA and AGS are the only reliable labs. Cut needs to be GIA Excellent or AGS Ideal cut. Color and clarity are personal preference. My very bottom color and clarity, personally, are H VS2. Yours may be higher or lower than that. Enerchi linked you some stones in your budget. Let us know a little more about your color and clarity preferences and we can link more options if needed. I prefer James Allen, WhiteFlash, and Good Old Gold since they show pictures of the stone and show or provide idealscope images.

I bought a GIA-certed 2.06 J SI2 oval in a platinum setting from brilliance.com and was very happy with their price and service. I saw the diamond on Blue Nile first, then found it on brilliance.com for over $1000 less.

Liz - That's great to hear from an actual customer. I did google them and they had wonderful reviews (only a couple of negative ones).

Regarding the HCA tool on here, what do I enter if I don't have the Crown and Pavilion information. The default is 34 and 40.5. Brilliance doesn't provide that on their website.

Thanks!

If you don't have CA and PA you can't use the HCA. You simply don't have enough information to even start to evaluate the cut quality.

Please look at the stones recommended above - you'll get a fantastic stone and you won't have to guess.

A deal is a deal only if you are getting exactly what you want. If you want low price there is going to be a reason it is that price.
