I've got a noob question:

I've been doing a bit of surfing on the knot, and noticed that a good number of the wedding bios feature a monogram. It usually includes the B&G's first names, and the wedding date. I've seen other variations, too.

I think they're cool, and it would be great to include it on wedding paper items (program, tent cards, thank yous, etc...) to tie everything together. For those of you that have one, how did you go about creating it? I have no idea where to turn to, and just need some advice.

THANKS!

FI created ours- I think in photoshop. I can ask. What are you looking for?

He created several for us and we have narrowed it down to these 2. We used a simplified version of these on our save the dates.

Here is the logo/monogram I created for our wedding. I used it on our STD and plan on using it on everything. I just did his last name (my future last name) as a modern twist of the traditional monogram. I am going to get a plate for an embosser so I can emboss napkins, placecards, that sort of thing. I started by picking the fonts I wanted to use and the colors. We don''t really have a theme but I do like it when weddings use that (a leaf for fall wedding, grapes for a winery wedding....) So I think you need to decide what kind of look you want your printed material to convey (elegant, fun, casual, formal...) and start from there. If you already have your invites picked out use the same font/colors.

Anyhow, at one point he had talked about doing these and other design projects for others for a small fee. Don''t know if he still wants to, but I am sure he would. I can talk to him if you are interested.

But I imagine some of the girls on here can walk you through doing one of your own. I would, but I know nothing about that sort of stuff.

i PM''d you.

You can also make them on powerpoint... I did mine on Adobe Illustrator... but most ppl don''t have that program I don''t think...

WOW- you gals are sooo great. THANKS much for all the advice.

I did some surfing around, and came up with some ideas. And some images for JCrow & Tacori

I don''t have a middle name, which is why I''m thinking of only doing our first names (Sandi & Matt), and using the initial on his last name (B). I also want to add the date (looks like it will be September 30th, 2006). Last, but not least, we''re getting married at a winery, so I wanted to incorporate either grapes or vines (as long as it doesn''t look too busy!) Our main color is going to be a deep red/wine (not exactly burgundy), but I would be OK with B&W. I''m going to play a bit in word & PowerPoint. Wish I had Photoshop!

#1- I would add the date (like in the second one):

#2- This one is cool too, but I don''t like the font, and I would remove the first name initials, and just place the names & date from the bottom, right in the middle of the "S" initial:

#3- I don''t like the scripty/cursive look of "and" & the date, but I like how it''s laid out (very different from #1 & #2):

They''re all really clean and simple. I like the font on the top one best. The site I found it on calls it "freehand". I like that it''s contemporary, but not too modern:
