Mondera way cheaper than Retailer - same stone!

Just a quick search for the same stone that I am looking at came up at Mondera for a few hundred less than what it''s listed at on my retailer''s site. Is this my retailer marking it up?

Does the vendor offer different prices to different retailers?

What gives?

Yap, retailer mark up. Different retailers have different prices for different reasons for the same stone. Normal.

Not sure what Modera's service is, maybe they are just a drop-shipper. Who is your retailer? A Brick store will have higher operating cost than an online store so will charge more to cover that expense.

“Why should I buy this thing from you instead of these other people who say they will sell it to me for less?” is always a valid shopping question for anything you’re buying, not just diamonds. The burden is then on the merchant to either match the price or explain to you why it’s better coming from them than from those other guys.

Are their added services worth the cost? Maybe, and maybe not, but it's entirely fair and sensible shopping to ask the question and it's part of their sales pitch to convince you that they are (and part of the pitch of the discount guys to convince you that they aren't).
