Hi Ladies! I am SURE this has been covered, but my search was fruitless.

Do any of you have 2 door cars and kids? My DH and I have 2 un-kid-friendly cars now, and are selling one. The other we would like to keep, but I worry we cant get a carseat in the back of a coupe? Its a Honda Accord, btw. Most of the time, whoever had the kid would have the 4 door car, but would a 2 door work in a pinch? Thanks in advance!!

My car is a 4-door sedan and my hubby drives a 2-door Honda Civic. It''s easy for him because he''s big and can reach in there to get DS out of the carseat, which is in the middle of the backseat so it will fit. I cannot get DS in or out of his seat in the 2-door so when we go out as a family we take my car most of the time (seat is on the driver''s side). When you get a carseat for the 2-door just make sure it will fit back there and you should be fine.

For our first six years as parents, we drove one two door car and one four door car. (The two door car was an Accord).

Like you said, whoever had the kids generally had the four door car, and we could fit the kids in the two door car also. It was a little tougher, but in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal. After my third child turned one, we did trade the two door for a four door.

Definately doable.... Dh and I both had 2 door cars before kids. Fortunately we found out way before TTC that a rear facing carseat would not fit in either car.

So we budgeted for 2 new cars. I got the large SUV and he got a another 2 door, but a much larger one.

Thanks guys!!
DD- my DH is super tall/long arms, so I hope he can reach too!

I totally remember my dad having a two door car when we were little.

It won''t be a problem in a pinch.

I swear the backseat of my mom''s coupe is larger than the backseat of my station wagon, so the whole fitting thing just really depends on the car. It''s annoying to get him buckled properly into the back, but I''d personally rather deal with that amount of annoyance once a week (say?) than shell out the money for another car.

Take the smaller car with you when you go shopping for a carseat, by the way. I''m very glad we did as it ruled out the infant seat that was my top choice on paper.
