Home Mold! Should I call a plumber or carpenter or what?

Our house, which is going on 4 years old, seems to have some mold growing in our garage ceiling. There is no bathroom directly over it so I am not sure where the water would be coming from. The water stain is about 1.5 feet in diameter and neither my husband or I have ever noticed it before. I don''t even know what to do. Should I contact a plumber or a carpenter? We had a huge rainstorm last weekend. Could that be the cause? This area is under the second story.

Could you have a roof leak ???

even if it is not over the stain it could be channelling down...could be bad flashing...or bad coverage in a valley...we had that problem

If there is plumbing over the area...pipelines, hot water heater...AC unit ducts...etc...then it needs to be eval by plumber...if no plumbing...then perhaps a roofer...

Can you get a visual of the area over the stain...look in teh attic/crawl space...

you need to find the souce soon before it get worse...it may be you only see it after heavy rain...
