I know from what I’ve read in the posts that sending my setting to Whiteflash via USPS will be inexpensive. But can anyone surmise what my share of the Fedex back from Whiteflash will be once they put the diamond in my setting? I’ve heard some scary costs for Fedex on here. The setting itself was only $350 and the diamond I’m buying from Whiteflash for it is almost 6K. Now, I suppose my Fedex cost can’t seem like much compared to all this $$$, but I’m at the end of my budget so to speak and Christmas shopping is coming…

I''m not sure about this, but could you ask WF to send it back USPS? That would be cheaper. I could be mistaken, but I think I paid $75 when my diamond was fedexed to me from the appraiser.

Ask WF.

When they shipped me a diamond via FedEx Priority Overnight to my nearest FedEx station, I believe shipping was free. When I returned the diamond, the cost deducted from my refund was twenty something dollars I believe.

Thanks, Jasmine. Your insurance portion of the shipping must have been so high because your stone was of such a high value. I’m sure USPS would be cheaper, too. If push comes to shove, I’ll try asking WF about that but I don’t think they’ll go for it since they want you to retrieve the diamond yourself from your Fedex branch.

Thanks Rascal, but the reason I’m asking, of course, is to get a ballpark figure based on my #''s before asking WF

. Your shipping would have been free since the stone was theirs, but I’m getting their stone from them in my third party setting which they don’t cover.

USPS, for the most secure shipping Registered) was about $33.
They might go for shipping it this way as Registered always requires a signature.

Did you ask WF? I think shipping would be free for the trip back to you (if you bought the diamond from them). The diamond will be in the setting, so if the whole thing gets lost, you will be insured only for the diamond right? And you need insurance for the setting? It can''t possibly be that much to insure $350. I sent something that was $350 and the post office charged me $7.50 (approximately) to insure it. You can call fedex and ask them too. That might be simpler.

call WF, i'm sure they get those types of questions all the time. We can only guess they can give you the exact number

also, when i purchased my eternity band from them they overnighted it fed ex and shipping was free. I would think since you are buying the stone from them they will cover the shipping costs, regardless if you purchased the setting from them. They would have shipped the stone to you for free right? Maybe you can offer to pay the addiontion $350 insurance coverage for the setting..But I think they should cover the shipping...

Oh I see your point, I would ask if since you are buying the setting the will ship free, if not make the request for the cheapest way possible for it to ship. My guess is they have a FedEX guy drop by daily and pick up all of their packages but I do no know. Still it cannot hurt to ask.

Hi Chevalier:

You will not be charged anything for shipping, as the majority of the value is in the diamond that you are purchasing from us. The $350 value of the setting will not add anything to our base shipping/insurance cost.

Just an FYI for those of you who suggest calling FEDEX directly. We do not insure through FEDEX. We use FEDEX as our carrier, but we insure the package through a third party company. FEDEX only insures single packages up to $500.

Hope that helps!
