Milgrain is for lovers... my new engagement ring w/ photos!!

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting, but I’ve been lurking for many months on PriceScope trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. I got engaged in August and was allowed to pick out my own ring and my journey has taken me from a diamond dealer in Toronto that only carries Gem Scan certificates, then eventually to Blue Nile where I tried to find the cheapest diamond with the highest specs, and then to PriceScope, and then finally to James Allen. Thanks to the community here for sharing their knowledge and to JA for the ring and their excellent customer service! And now, without further ado, here are the specs:

The original setting does not come with milgrain, but I love the antique look, so I asked, and JA added the custom milgrain for free!

Thanks so much for your kind comments everyone! JA was really a great experience for me, and I only found out about being able to add milgrain by chance, in reading some other customer's review.

I wear a size 5.5.

Did you order from JA as well ringstake2? The ring spins a little on me, and I'm not sure if my fingers have shrunk because of the cold weather, or the setting is quite high because of the cathedral windows. I have never worn a ring in my life, and I'm still getting used to it, but I find that it gets caught on the simplest of things - like trying to put my hands in my pockets. If I had a little more time to edu-macate myself, I think I would have picked a setting that looked exactly the same from the top, but somehow set a bit lower. I don't even know if such a setting exists, but for now, I love what I have.

I got mine from Bluenile. I cannot wait until I get it. My fingers shrink in cold weather too lol

From the James Allen site it looked as though your ring is set low, a bit similar to this one by BGD:

Perhaps it might help to have the ring made smaller so it doesn't spin on your finger.

It looks lovely! I really love the added touch of the milgrain.

If your ring is spinning in the cold weather, I wouldn't stress too much. Mine spin in the winter and are tight in the summer. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a goldilocks zone as far as sizing in climates that shift dramatically! Also, once you add a band it will be more stable and a bit more snug.
