Unfortunately this seems to be the pattern - only inform customers weeks or months after the fact. Happened with Target and some other retailers over the last holiday season, etc. Some reasons for this I'm sure are:
1. Genuinely trying to assess the damage/situation
2. Brace for impact on the bottom line - so requires planning
3. Attempting to fix and remedy situation before starting a panic.

It stinks, doesn't it? I hate it too. I am concerned about the information that the thieves got away with. And thus far, no official email from Ebay yet, at least I have not received one
