okay this might be a stupid question, but since i have very few experience in buying diamonds and have not had a chance to hit the stores, just want to get a rough idea first.

suppose it''s a round cut diamond
1 carat
F or G
VVS2 or VS2 or VS1

how much do you think it''ll cost? roughly

sorry if it seem stupid to ask

Use the "search by cut" function under PRICES up top. You can search all the vendors and see what that type of stone would cost to your heart''s content.

Hi and Welcome to PS.

In the Bar about you will see some drop down menus... go to the Prices section and use the search to find out.

VVS2 unless its a cultural thing is, frankly a waste of money. And you if you are looking for anything other than an EC or Asscher I would seriously consider an eyeclean SI. Also most people are fine with H color rounds.

CUT (and I don''t mean shape) is the most important thing to look for if you want a sparkly, bright, white diamond.

SO look for Ideal or Excellent cuts only.

Also in the FAQ section there is a lot of useful information for a newbie.

Good luck!

oh thank you both very much!! so SI and H would be considered pretty good?

As long as it''s eyeclean SI can be a GREAT deal.

As for the H, it depends on personal preferences. As long as it''s a round, an H is pretty darn safe. In a fancy cut, I personally would stick to G or higher, but it''s all about YOUR tolerance for a bit of color from the sides...

Do as my friends said above. Consistent with that, I'd say $5 to $10 K....(eta...mindful of certification of GIA & AGS...with more variation possible if you bring in third tier certs...)

whiteflash has them for 6300-7800 just for diamond

ohhhhhh thank you very much. i know the differnt gradings of diamond, but didn''t know what is considered decent or good. now i have a good benchmark. thanks all!
