I need a new ring setting for my engagement ring. I have a 5 ct. round center stone, and I kept losing my side tapered baguettes. I''m giving up on my current setting and have chosen, in its place, a very thin, basket set, micro pave setting, but the jeweler insists that it will likely bend with daily use, and that I''ll probably (because the prongs on micro-pave are so so small) lose one of the smaller diamonds in the pave. So my question is... anyone with a thin micropave setting come across this problem? I need to know before I have the jeweler craft it for me (based on the Very Wang, very thin setting). Even if I were to go a bit thicker, he said with micro pave, often people complain that a stone fell out. I plan to wear my ring daily. Thank you in advance.

Great article posted by MrsSalvo. The most well-made rings are subject to wear, just like the most well-made cars are subject to traffic, weather and maintenance! Many companies offer complimentary checking of your diamonds for security and worn prongs if you purchase from them. These companies will tighten any loose diamonds at no charge and return your ring cleaned and polished.
