Would I Michael B petite micropave band be "too small" (too thin) for a size 7 finger? I wanted to put a size 1.5 ct to 1.75 carat stone on it.:)

How many mm is it?

The band for the "petite band" is 2.0 mm and the "classic band" is 2.2 mm:)

If you scroll down the 6th page of my solitaire thread, you will see some pictures I posted today of settings 2.5-3.0mm wide. I think the 2.5 looks very very thin. I believe the person''s finger is a 6. Width of setting preferences are personal, but I wear a 5.5 size ring and a 2.0mm ring would be way too thin for me. The stone in those 4 pictures is mine, and it is 1.63, for your reference.

Forgot to tell you, my stone is an H, just so you know. :-)

What area of the state are you in?

Hello,

I am pretty sure that the Michael B petite princess setting can only accomodate up to 1.5 ct center stone- anything over that, and you have to purchase the regular princess...

i''d go for the regular.

I highly recommend Grimball Jewelers near Whole Foods in CH. They are extremely helpful and carry a wide range of products, and can order you whatever they don''t have. They are not a discount jeweler, but I''ve found it worth paying a little more for the excellent service and extras.

Yes, petite is 2.0mm, but princess is 2.35mm. Classic is 2.5mm. There's actually three types...

Goldenrain, can you mount b/t a 1.6-1.8 stone on the petite princess or not?

Well, the recommended ct weight is 0.5 to 1.5 for the petite princess... You might be able to do something a bit above that, but 1.7+ might be stretching it...

Your correct the Michael B petite princess should be no larger than a 1 1/2ct size or 7.5mm. The petite 3 sided will take up to a 2.0ct size. For the finger and diamond size I would suggest the regular princess.

I have a size 7.5, and the shank on my ring is around 2.5mm at it''s thickest point, tapering to around 1.7 at the diamond.

I don''t think it looks strangely thin - but, my fingers are pretty short.

Also, I think it makes the diamond look bigger! :)

I wanted something that is very comfortable when I add the wedding band, that doesn''t take up my entire finger. I think a total of around 5mm will be perfect for me, even though I have a larger sized finger.

I have no diamonds on my E-ring shank, but may get some channel set diamonds on a really thin wedding band. Haven''t decided yet...

BigE,

I have the Michael B. Petite Pave band and my diamond is in your size-frame. They can set it with any size diamond and the dainty setting does make your diamond look bigger. My finger size is 4.25 though.
