Shopping Metal Detector Purchasing Advise

Does anyone know what to look for when purchasing a metal detector? Abilities/downfalls/good manufacturers, etc.

I had read some review online once...it may have been a consumer reports but it is worth searching out. They compared many models within a similar price range...that weren't similar in success. I think the jest of the story was to spend as much as you can, because if you buy the lesser blah blah blah model it will indicate all metal...and you will wear out your enthusiasm while digging for nails or junk metal. The end result in buying inferior detectors...will be storing the metal detector on the treadmill!!

I have no experience with a detector...but thought I would encourage you to do it! What fun! §
