Mengagement Rings? HA HA HA

Eh, it isn''t THAT funny - my DH had one.

"Sure, the idea of engagement rings for men is silly"

Not really. Their fairly common in Germany, at least in my bf''s social circle. Why would it be silly? If a guy wants an engagement ring, more power to him.

A friend of mine and my old boss both had one. It''s hardly silly - why should the woman be the only one with something showing she''s taken? It''s hardly fair for a guy to be able to mark his "property" but not have anything to show that he''s in a serious relationship. While I wouldn''t ask my BF to wear one, I totally understand why some guys do.

Same around here: men wear a band on their right hand to indicate an engagement, just as a woman does (diamond e-rings are very rare).

What really gets to me is calling them "mengagement rongs" or menbands or whatever. Really, must anything that is market to men have to follow this ridiculous naming rule to be acceptable? A man must not wear eyeliner, but "manliner" is macho? Or manpurse, manskirt, mantihose, etc?

makes sense to me...

Monkeypie- mine had one too, I didnt find it funny either, just really sweet that he wanted people to know he was "taken".

I guess I''m missing out on the funny part too

I think the actual concept of the man''s engagement ring is totally fine, but the word "mangagement" strikes me as what''s funny.

Maybe it reminds me of manscaping?

I tried to get DH to wear one, but he said no

Yes, it''s the term that I found funny. I really don''t care if the man gets a ring (mine didn''t) as long as I did!

Maybe no one else gets the comedy in "mangagement." Now if you''ll excuse me, I have a full afternoon. I need my mangagement ring sized, then I need to work on my man-tan while I manscape.
