I want to say thank you to all men and women who are currently serving, or have served their country in all branches of the military. Thanks to all who have lost their lives defending their country. You are remembered this weekend!

Thanks to Sgt Jack Hennessy (21) who died in Baghdad Oct 1,2003. You will never be forgotten!

Tuckins... I saw your thread earlier and didn't post. It's not that I'm not grateful... it's just that words don't seem to be enough. But I guess there are times when words are all we have.

Thank you to those of you who have put yourselves in harm's way in defense of our ideals. Thank you to those of you who found your hearts put in harm's way as a loved one went off to serve our country, and who provided strength and emotional support to our troops on our behalf, in spite of your breaking hearts.

And my heart goes out to those of you who suffered great loss... no matter what country they were serving... in support of the ideals of freedom, justice, and human dignity for all, and in opposition to tyrany.

And a special thanks to my favorite veteran and reservist. Four wars, countless missions and deployments to support active operations or peacetime missions... you've more than done your share. As much as I appreciate and understand your sacrifices, I also hope that this time, you're home to stay!

Tuckins,

Thanks for posting this thread. I was disappointed this morning, Memorial Day, when I saw this thread hadn''t made it to the top of the column-it had made it to the second page and seemed to be forgotten.

Living in the USA as I do, I have so much to be thankful for. Our way of life is SECOND TO NONE. This day is the day to remember those who have lost their lives protecting our freedoms. Many of our citizens took their last breathe on foreign soils defending others rights and freedoms. Those patriots (and so many others), and their families have my never ending gratitude.

You know I think we are all too busy with work and lives and celebrate this holiday with grilling, lake or beach time, watermelon and a new bathing suit. We forget the reason it was set aside as we are busy "LIVING" our lives. Just one day a year to stop and remember, stop and comprehend, stop and appreciate lives that are no longer-so that OURS CONTINUE.

Honor, Respect and Appreciation are my words for this Memorial Day.

James John Regan and all the others, this THANK YOU is heartfelt and sincere, and yet it is just not enough.

Thank you for posting this! It is important to honor those who put themselves in harm''s way... Yesterday DH and I stopped by the war memorial that is 2 blocks from our house. It lists the names of the people from our (little tiny) city who gave their lives in wars, starting with WW1. It is amazing to see just how many names are there for WW! and WW2! I will never again complain about "what that a#$ hole just said"... Many people have died so that he could say whatever he wants!

Thank you to all of the service men and women who are fighting for freedom. And thank you to all of the families and loved ones of said service members as the worrisome wait at home is so difficult.

My heart breaks for all those who have suffered a devastating loss, I don''t have words enough...you are in my prayers.

Our town is still flying flags at half mast through today. Today I have to say thank you first and foremost to the ones who have lost their lives fighting for this country. These individuals dedicated their lives to us... and I''m so thankful for them. Thank you to those who continue to serve for this country as well. If it weren''t for all of you, we wouldn''t have the lives we do here.

I want to thank my mom for being such a great mommy to me even when she wasn''t always a great mother. I am in your footsteps mom! I wish you were still here with me to thank you for 40 years :*)

Thank you to my old boyfriend for giving his life in Iraq for us, my good friend Jeremy for serving currently, my 2 cousins who are serving currently as well, our good friend Owen who is serving, and all the others I have never met for giving us our freedom.

I remember once on the bus back in ND I saw an older man on his way to a vfw gathering and he was wearing his uniform. I sincerely thanked him for serving as he got up to leave the bus and he looked so surprised and grateful at the same time. It is a shame that he was so surprised

I proudly hung up our flag this morning. I don''t know what to say other than thank you to all of those past, present and future who have served and sacrificed for our country. I truly appreciate it.

My Dad served in the U.S. armed forces, including two wars, for nearly 30 years. He died earlier this year. He''s remembered every day by me, but it''s nice to know that his service is being remembered by everyone today.

My mom and stepfather are buried at the Houston National Cemetery and my brother was there for the Memorial Day celebration. I had hoped to go, but didn''t feel well enough. It is amazing how many new graves are there every time we go out to the Cemetery....and my heart is full knowing that my parents are resting among so many heros and their familiy members.

We have many veterans in our family. Thank the Lord that they all came home safely, but still had scars from their experiences.

I adopted a soldier today, through Soldiers Angels, and will be sending him care packages and letters. It is the least I can do to support someone who willingly volunteered to go into combat for the protection of our precious America and all of the freedoms we hold so dear. My prayer is that the little things I send him will help him stay strong until he comes home.

In which branch of the military did they serve?

Oh, absolutely. My father served in the Air Force. Both my uncle and myself served in the Navy.

To those that have ever served in the Armed Forces, THANK YOU!
To those currently serving in the Armed Forces, THANK YOU!
To the men and women serving overseas, away from their loved ones, THANK YOU!
To the men and women on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, working 18 hour days 7 days a week, THANK YOU!
To the men and women working in the 100+ degree machinery rooms onboard a ship, somewhere in the middle of the ocean, THANK YOU!
To the men and women washing dishes, cleaning rooms, or scrubbing showers on a ship or base, I know it''s not what you signed up for but THANK YOU!
To the men and women standing watch somewhere... in the middle of the night, I know you have to work tomorrow too but THANK YOU.
To the men and women working 12 hour days, 7 days a week plus watch duty, I am sorry for complaing about traffic and crazy stuff during my paltry 40 hour week... where I can go home to friends and family, a warm meal, a shower, and a comfortable bed, THANK YOU!

To the families, friends, and loved ones of those currently serving in the Armed Forces, stay strong and from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

To Devon and John, THANK YOU.

To Sgt Davis (below), and the thousands and thousands of others like you, may you find peace and comfort in Heaven. Thank you so very much.
