Tuckins,
Thanks for posting this thread. I was disappointed this morning, Memorial Day, when I saw this thread hadn''t made it to the top of the column-it had made it to the second page and seemed to be forgotten.
Living in the USA as I do, I have so much to be thankful for. Our way of life is SECOND TO NONE. This day is the day to remember those who have lost their lives protecting our freedoms. Many of our citizens took their last breathe on foreign soils defending others rights and freedoms. Those patriots (and so many others), and their families have my never ending gratitude.
You know I think we are all too busy with work and lives and celebrate this holiday with grilling, lake or beach time, watermelon and a new bathing suit. We forget the reason it was set aside as we are busy ''LIVING'' our lives. Just one day a year to stop and remember, stop and comprehend, stop and appreciate lives that are no longer-so that OURS CONTINUE.
Honor, Respect and Appreciation are my words for this Memorial Day.
James John Regan and all the others, this THANK YOU is heartfelt and sincere, and yet it is just not enough.

My Dad served in the U.S. armed forces, including two wars, for nearly 30 years. He died earlier this year. He''s remembered every day by me, but it''s nice to know that his service is being remembered by everyone today.

My mom and stepfather are buried at the Houston National Cemetery and my brother was there for the Memorial Day celebration. I had hoped to go, but didn''t feel well enough. It is amazing how many new graves are there every time we go out to the Cemetery....and my heart is full knowing that my parents are resting among so many heros and their familiy members.
We have many veterans in our family. Thank the Lord that they all came home safely, but still had scars from their experiences.
I adopted a soldier today, through Soldiers Angels, and will be sending him care packages and letters. It is the least I can do to support someone who willingly volunteered to go into combat for the protection of our precious America and all of the freedoms we hold so dear. My prayer is that the little things I send him will help him stay strong until he comes home.
