hi all,

i know there are a number of memoire fans and owners here on PS and i wanted to get your opinions on the regular vs A grade rings/stones.

those who have seen both grades, is there a big difference between the two? any major differences in sparkle factor?

i''m considering a ring with .10 pointers so at that size, i''m wondering if you can even tell the difference. i''m color sensitive and have mind clean issues so i''m okay with paying the premium for the A grade but only if there are obvious visual differences between the two or if the A grade outperforms the regular grade by a mile.

your thoughts?

I never saw the two grades before buying, but I chose the higher grade just because I wanted it! Mine are between 10-11 points, too. I doubt you could really see the difference, though. It''s more of a mental thing, really!

hi diamondseeker-

did you ever compare the regular grade with your A grade after you bought it? i agree- it''s definitely a mental thing but i think i''d feel mentally better if i got the A grade. haha. it costs significantly more than the regular though so i''m trying to justify the additional cost...

the regular grade is G-H, SI and the A grade is E-F, VS right? a jeweler told me the A grade is F-G, VS.

what band/ring are you getting? im getting the purity collection engagement ring and wedding band with the following specs:

is the quality you referring to the quality of the stones in the band (i.e. stones in an eternity band)? as you can see the from the specs the one in the rings im getting are M plus quality (SI1 G-H)

what do you all think of my rings?

Memoire Purity Engagement ring .95ct 19 diamonds - eternity band. Size 5 1/4
Product No. PPSPH-1-95M SI1, G-H, M Plus quality

Memoire Purity Wedding band 1ct 20 diamonds - eternity band. Size 5 1/4
Product No. PPSP1-1M SI1, G-H, M Plus quality

diamondseeker- did you get any paperwork/certification with your band stating the specs of the stones/that the ring was the A grade?

love- i''m also looking into the purity collection.

love- did your jeweler tell you the specs for the A grade? i''ve read that it''s E-F, VS but the jeweler i talked to told me it''s F-G, VS.

No, no paperwork. But the serial number is different on the order depending on the grade. I know my jeweler said he examined the ring when it came in to be sure it was the higher grade. But I think the color was something like F-G, not E-F. The clarity was VS.

I have the regular grade for a 1.54ct eternity and have no complaints. the stones are extremely well cut and sparkle like crazy. I think I might have seen a few tiny inclusions, but the stones are so small, I can''t really see them. I never compared it in person with the A grade, though. I have an F color solitaire, and the band doesn''t look any warmer to my eyes.

no i didnt really get details on the other grades... the M plus quality one seemed nice enought.. how much are you getting the A grade for?

im getting these for 2815.

no paperwork makes me a little uneasy...but i doubt the jeweler or memoire would give me the M grade when i paid for the A grade...right?? haha. geez, i hope not! i''ll definitely loupe and compare it to the M grade. if necessary, i''m thinking an appraisal would further ease any worries.

what quote did you get for the A grade memoire purity band?

are you getting both the engagement ring and wedding band?

i don''t remember the exact numbers but i recall the A grade being about 20+% more than the regular grade.

The key is always to deal with a reputable jeweler. It never crossed my mind that I did not get what I paid for. Other than lab graded individual diamonds, you are always in a position to have the trust the jeweler for how they are representing an item. And of course you can always get another appraisal. I just didn''t consider that necessary in my case.
