Well I received my new Crest US today so I''ve been busily cleaning everything. Contrary to popular advice I thought one clean in the US would not hurt my rolling ring. I got it from Signed Pieces, its the trinity with one pave band.

So I fish it out and instead of being blinded by sparkles, I see one big black hole staring at me! *sob*

My question is, do I take it to the local jeweler or should I take it Cartier to get it fixed?

I''m a bit nervous about taking it to Cartier and telling them I got it off the internet, in case they''re snobby to me

Any advice? Is it worth saving the melee stone for replacement?

you don''t have to tell Cartier you got it online. Tell them it''s a gift from your significant other.

I would. Part of what makes a Cartier ring a hefty sum of money is the name. If some schmo works on the ring and damages it...well...that wouldn''t be good. Not that you''d employ some schmo...well, you get the point. If I had a Tiffany ring, you bet I''d be getting it sized by them and not anybody else, and the same with melee.

Thanks peoples. Will do. I''m just a cowardy-custard, feeling like I didn''t pay full price so I don''t deserve the service.

You got it from SP, which means it's a real Cartier, correct? If so, someone paid full price for that sucker and just because it wasn't you doesn't mean the ring doesn't deserve repair from the company that made it!

The worst they can say is no. I doubt they will though.

Real Cartier, correctomundo. I might have to go to a different one than my local one though, I went there a lot getting the correct sizing. They were all ready for me to pull out my checkbook! haha, as if.
