My girlfriend and I had the opportunity to meet with Mark at ERD. We were in town for other business and thought that it would be a great opportunity to really check out some quality stones and get some good information. Well, at least that is what we thought.....................

The truth is that we met with Mark and we were extremely glad that we did. I would suggest that if you have the opportunity to check out some stones with him then do so. I made an appointment with Mark and gave him examples of what I was looking for from the stones listed on ERD. He had some great stones for us to look at. He taught us all about the GIA certification process, he had us look at the stone and explained the minor differences in each stone and how they affected the overall look of the diamond. He took the time to explain the difference between cushion brilliant and cushion modified brilliant, the girlfriend wants a cushion. Now she wants a cushion brilliant.

We have been to many jewelry stores and diamond dealers. The experience we had at ERD was the best by far. Nothing felt forced and there was no tension. It really felt like we were just simply there for a class on diamond education. I am not sure if we will eventually decide to go with ERD, but again I would suggest taking the time for a visit and learn about the choices and purchases you will be making.

I''m glad you had an enjoyable experience with Mark. Why would you not choose to work with him if you had such great things to say about him?

I''ve read amazing things about Mark on here. So good to hear the continued positive feedback! We are meeting with him soon and really just can''t wait!

i find it very odd that this post pops up right after another person who has bought and is not happy posted about their feelings. just my two cents....

ironically i had exactly the opposite experience--there is a very controlled dynamic at ERD where you are only offered two or three stones and encouraged to buy one--as its the best out there that fits your criterion. these are hard to find etc etc. he is a salesman more than anything and i didnt care to be pushed into buying the stone they felt was the right one. no discussion of cut whatsoever. good luck finding your stone.

Hmmm......I may need some popcorn for this thread....Interesting.

I had a different experience. I kept asking Mark to recommend a stone but he would not sway me one way or the next.

I think you have the times messed up. This was posted BEFORE that other thread where the person had a negative experience with ERD.

ditto. Hope you find a stone through him.

bgray I know you have had a negative experience with him but just because you did doesn't mean everyone does. The majority of people have great experiences with him (including me multiple times) which is why he is a trusted vendor. There are posts everyday about ERD-most of them positive-so it's a bit out there to assume that a positive post about ERD is suspicious just because it comes similar in time to a negative one.

So glad you guys had a great experience! I agree, Mark is a really great guy and knows his stuff!
