My new emerald and diamond ring checked out : ) So happy! It has a Jazz Age Art Deco look to it, which I just love. IMG_20190915_173348565~2.jpg

Congrats on a lovely ring!

Congrats on a lovely ring!

: ) Thank you! I was so happy to discover that my Mother-Daughter Weekend purchase at the beach was such a great find!!

Congrats on your lovely new emerald! May I ask what the story was behind her?

Very pretty congrats!!!

Congratulations on your new ring!! It’s lovely. Are you still working on emerald earrings to match?

Of course, I'm happy to share the story : )
I was on a Mother-Daughter Weekend at the beach with my mom and we walked by this small jewelry store window and this emerald and diamond ring caught my eye and stopped me in my tracks.
My mom insisted we go in when I said I probably shouldn't, and as soon as I had the ring on my finger (a perfect fit) I loved the look of it, good coverage and the color- wow- I can't capture it in photos, the photos don't do it justice. I hadn't intended to jewelry shop on the trip, but with me, it happens haha.
I was nervous to make such a spontaneous purchase and too I had initially wanted an emerald-cut emerald and this one was oval cut... but the setting just showcased the stone so well and the overall ring won me over in the end.

I am more confident with buying diamonds and am newer to colored-stones, so that too was making me a bit more apprehensive, not to mention that I'd read emeralds can be faked/"enhanced" by adding glass to the surface etc etc. The stone looked authentic to me, I could see the inclusions one would expect to see in a natural emerald, but I was still nervous. I took it to my local, trusted jeweler at last this weekend and was assured it is indeed a natural emerald (diamonds are real too lol and a nice bright white) and that I got a great deal on it- my jeweler said she "would not have hesitated to buy it."
I feel very happy with my purchase and it's special to me that I bought it on a Mother-Daughter Weekend with my mom who is very busy and so I especially treasure one-on-one time with her.
It seems she is my good luck charm with jewelry buying too! ; )

I've been getting compliments on Ezmerelda (she really is so much more stunning in person and even my jeweler was wowed), and wearing her too often... but I can't help it! My jeweler reminded me (I know, I know) that an emerald isn't an everyday stone... so I have to switch her out with my other pieces. It's just so hard not to reach for her when I'm getting ready. Dare I say it? Perhaps I'll need yet another larger RHR ; ) My other pieces are much more modest than Ezmerelda.

Ezmerelda is stunning.

Thank you! : ) And I certainly am haha, those earrings will definitely happen at some point ; )
I still want step-cut for them too, I realized I don't have to be matchy-matchy and could definitely wear them with Ezmerelda b/c she almost gives a look of an elongated cushiony-rectangle overall, so it works : )

I love that Ezmeralda has a great story behind her! It shows that mom knows best. ;)2 Glad she convinced you to take a closer look - she’s beautiful!

: ) Thank you, and so true! Mom usually does know best. Mom's advice and opinions are priceless, and we are never too old for it : )

Gorgeous! It has everything I love: emerald, halo, diamonds... win win win!

Beautiful stone and ring! Enjoy every minute wearing Esmeralda!

Beautiful and congrats on your lucky find! I prefer emeralds that have a hint of blue in them like yours.

: ) Thank you! The halo really does showcase the emerald, the contrast I think is enhancing.

Thank you! : ) I really have been enjoying wearing her, a little too much haha, had to put her back in the box for the week and rotate out to my smaller yellow and white diamond RHR. Missing her already...

Thank you, I do think it was a lucky find ; )
The color is truly SO hard to capture, but yes, it does have that hint of blue, so I would guess it's likely not Colombian....

Here is a shot of my everyday diamond studs that are one of my all-time favorite pieces:

But I do think I need some emerald earrings too...
