Would you wear it? Or know anyone who would love to wear it?

Like many other kids, I grew up with McDonald's. My parents would take us there on a semi-regular basis. My mom and dad would chat while my sister and I would play on the kids equipment. I have to say, I do have some fond memories of McDonald's. It was really exciting to go to McDonald's as a kid. But, would I wear it? Ummm, no.

maccers, I agree with both sentiments in your post. Yes, on having a nostalgic fondness for McD's, and a resounding no on ever wearing that ring. :knockout:

I have a son in management, I would totally buy it for him.

AprilBaby - that would be kind of awesome actually. I wonder if he'd get further promoted because the ring is a sign of his 'commitment' to the company...

Perfect! That's definitely a win/win. A home for the otherwise unappreciated ring, and a promotion for the dedicated employee 8)

I'd wear it as a joke but I'd swap out the diamond for a light brown hamburger-colored August Vintage Round with the finest light performance.
I despise McDonald's on so many levels, and boycott all fast food chains, but DO I love tacky kitsch and camp ephemera that's so bad it's good.

Edit: Per this link it is an award ring for 10 year service: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/993824

"McDonald's Emblem Gold Ring with diamond by Lenox.
Handcrafted exclusively for McDonald's.
Marked 10K."

I've seen them on ebay, and if it was small enough for my pinkie (and I got it for free), I'd totally wear it for fun. I know McDonalds is terrible, but I love it. It's such a big part of American culture. Maybe as a first-general immigrant, I feel more sentimental towards it. Anyway, I only allow myself to have something from there during pit stops on long car trips. The only thing I ever get is the filet o' fish, and when I have it, I really enjoy it and I'm not ashamed to say so :cheeky:

I confess that during long trips I've pulled off the freeway to get MD orange juice a couple times.
Please don't hate me.

I can see the appeal for those who worked for the company or have strong memories tied to it. My parents NEVER took us to McDonald's and we rarely ate fast food or "fun" cereals with colorful stuff...some might say we were deprived!

I do appreciate that McD's has provided many jobs/careers and does a fairly great job of giving back in terms of RM House, etc. Once in awhile I get a Coke and some fries there, or when in a pinch, a salad. I don't think they're all bad. The golden arches are definitely an American icon, and I hope that McD's continues to work to provide healthier choices.

I wouldn't wear the ring unless my husband or daughter gave it to me. But it's kind of fun, like Kenny said, in a kitschy way.

I agree with the kitsch comments...it's Americana at both its best and worst. But I have to say I will not be getting a gold ring from my current employer once I reach 10 years or 20 for that matter. At best, it might be a crystal vase that holds one rose.

I would wear it, but I should clarify that I like weird $hit.

I like to go to McDonald's for special occasions - that's where we went for Valentine's Day this year. A Big Mac is more of a treat to me than a fancy, expensive dinner (I also love their Southwest Chicken Salad). I generally eat healthy, so it isn't something I allow myself every day. However, I do often frequent their drive through to get a large Diet Coke for $1.

eta - Don't even ask me about McGriddles.

Oooo, I love the Southwest Salad, also !!!!

I had one bookmarked to show my son. He's looking for an engagement ring for his girlfriend and she works at McDonalds(they're 17 & 18). I showed him to be funny because she HATES working at McDonalds....she's a vegetarian.

I don't care to wear names on my clothes/jewelry etc. I have a great friend who always wear the name of his favorite sports teams on his shirts (with the exception of work shirts) and it drives me nuts lol. I mean, here's a grown man wearing the logo of his sports team on almost everything he owns. In my eyes, it's ridiculous. I try not to do this. With the exception of a few pocketbooks where it is subtly placed. But I prefer no names showing on anything I am wearing. Why would I want to advertise for someone else so blatantly unless I am getting paid to do so?

Having said that, I might do something for the kitsch factor if that makes sense. :cheeky: But that's the rare exception.

ETA: Just wanted to say I didn't read anyones post before I comments lol. I see I'm not the only one who wrote about the kitsch factor. Ha...great minds!

I like a hamburger, fries and a sundae once or twice a year, but would pass on the ring.

No, not my taste at all.

God no. On so many levels no.

Am I being paid - big bucks - to wear it?

Why else would I advertise their company?

i don't know, think it falls into it's so bad it's good category.
Kind of like their food.
If I was a Beastie boy i'd totally rock it.

Oh maccer you posted this a little too late, see that's where I meet the hubs 32 years ago(our anniversary was in March), would he wear it noooooooooooooo he doesn't wear rings of any sort, but I'd get it just for the sentiment. Maybe when God willing we hit our big 35 I'll suprise him with one.
