Hello All,

I have finally decided on my setting and it can fit Asscher, Oval, Round and Princess. I have tried to cram in as much "pricescope" homework in as possible within the short time I have and below is a shortlist (quite a few i''m afraid). I am on a really sad budget (around $1400/£860 inc shipping) so trying to squeeze as much as I can for my £ without ending up with something too dodgy. Please advise on which ones I should seriously consider if any and any other advice/suggestions I can take on board.

Would I be able to get a Idealscope and ASET from WF if any of the below are ok?

Many Thanks :-)

Made them clickable

Ok, those are all virtual diamonds and so we can''t really assess them easily for you without the information from the certs.

You need to choose the shape you want before anything else, or you would be comparing bananas to apples.

Hi,

At this stage I just want to know if my choices are ok, so out of all the Rounds eliminate the worst ones, and so forth with the rest, till I am left with 1 of each if I am making sense?!?! Will I be able to get the certs info from WF?

Thanks for making it clickable by the way.

First - dd is right, we need way more info to make educated guesses on any of these - even to narrow it down effectively.

Second - do you already have your setting in hand, or did you mean that you''ve decided on a design? If you have your setting already made, you''ll have to narrow down your choices quite a bit because the size differences between some of these stones are enormous, and the setting will most likely have much smaller margins.

1 - I would eliminate the EGL asscher. EGL is known to be lenient on colour and clarity grading, and the "H SI1" is more likely to be I/J SI2/I1. Step cuts show colour and inclusions more easily than brilliant cuts, so you have to go up in colour and clarity quite a bit to get untinted white/eyeclean. You''re dealing with virtual stones with almost no info, so you need to be even pickier than you would with a pre-scanned inventory.

2 - Eliminate the EGL round - again, leniency in colour and clarity grading, and depth is high - you''ll be losing spread.

3 - I don''t like either princess. Xth girdles are unslightly - and is helping make the stone overly deep, but the other has a huge table.

Yes, this is an excellent point. If you have the setting chosen then you need to find a diamond with certain mm size, not certain carats.

Thanks Yssie,

The man who is making the setting told me I could have those shape diamonds as it is being custom made from my design he told me not to go over a carat, but didnt give me the minimum, neither he did not tell me what to look for in mm. The guy making the setting can also get me the diamonds but are IGI ones so not that keen on getting them from him

Hi chocolatedelight

It is best to stick to inventory stones so that all the info needed is available. Also the spread of rounds and asschers can be very different, asschers can face up smaller for the weight than round diamonds so this could also influence the weight you can have. You could try the in house search tool for various shapes or the search by cut option which will bring up rounds and princess of known cut quality.

Thanks Lorelei, Hopefully my second atempt at all this will be much better
