I really like both!! The pink dress looked good, but it was wearing you. These, on the other hand, you are rocking! The blue looks fantastic on you, but the pattern seems a little more casual than the others (may not really be--pictures make it hard to tell). The black looks great, I love the scoop neck. Only thing I don't love is the bow in the back (if that is what I'm seeing in the back), but thats just a personal preference thing. I think any of these (brown, black or blue) would be a great choice!!
The blue dress, I should add, is incredibly comfortable - its stretchy, so its like wearing a big t-shirt. LOL re: tatas and the blue dress - I was actually wondering if it emphasizes them TOO much...
Freke - it is the same dress (which I can see why she loves it so much
) - I couldn't find the link, but I remembered it.
Laine - the blue is more casual. Since you brought it up, I guess I can share that that was the same concern that the girls had about it on Saturday. I was hoping I could dress it up with strappy silver sandals and nice silver jewelry and some kind of nice wrap (maybe in an ivory or white). But I''m still not sure if it would be fancy enough for an evening reception at a fancy hotel (ceremony is in the afternoon, reception is a dinner reception at a Biltmore).
You''re right - the black dress does have a bow in the back. I''m a little concerned that that, along with the overall styling, may be a bit little girl-ey.
I liked both. But the blue one was, I think, everyone''s favorite including Amber''s. Everything about it was lovely... except that it''s a a little casual. I think it would depend on how much we could dress it up with accessories. But when you where it Amber you LOOK comfortable in your skin... like you feel confident. And no it doesn''t set off the tatas too much. Its very tasteful. And it was made for you.
The black one had a lot I liked about it. It is dressier, and with a nice shawl, some nice heels... perfect for the occasion. What did hubby think of the dresses?
And here is one that I just saw posted for someone else.
Yeah, the more I think about it and look at these pics, etc... the more I''m strongly favoring the blue one. You''re right - I feel really comfortable in it, I think it photographs nicely (which is miraculous in and of itself). I do think it could be dressed up enough with the right accessories.
I have these silver strappy sandals (pictured there in black, but I have silver), so I think that would help a lot.
I also have something similar to these shoes in silver with some little rhinestones on them.
For something over, I''m thinking a white or ivory pashmina would dress it up, and a nice silver clutch.
Also, Gypsy (or anyone else who wants to chime in - I''d really appreciate comments
), what do you think about hair - up, down, partly up?
I will probably still go by Ann Taylor sometime later this week or next week, but I really think I''m probably going to go with the blue dress and dressing it up as much as I can...
I was going to vote for the blue one because you do seem to be more comfortable in it (plus, it looks great!) I think feeling comfortable and at ease in the dress will go a long way towards making it look appropriate for the event.
I''m not the best at accessories (I basically have one pair of black heels that I wear with everything), but I like the idea of silver shoes. The wide heel of the first sandal makes it a little more casual, I think, but either shoe would probably work fine--I''d have to see it with the dress. I''d vote for a soft grey pashmina, rather than a stark white.
Hair is definitely out of my league, but I think I like it down, with some nice soft curls. The pictures of you with it back make it look more "sundressy" to me. Of course, its a picture of you with a ponytail and camera in front of your face, so its sort of hard to say.
Ok, found Emeraldlover's post, which has a clearer picture of the dress (looks better on you than on the model, by the way). What color is the pattern? I though it was a medium blue background with lighter blue pattern in your pictures, but is the color more like this picture, a brighter blue with grey pattern? I'm not sure that changes my opinion, but just checking...
Thanks Laine ::blushing:: - I would kill to have legs like that model, but seeing that pic I can see where having something up top (and on the hips) does help the dress look more proportionate. I think the color IRL is a mixture of the two - the pattern is more wuite/grey, but the background color is less bright than in the model shot.
That''s a good thought about the grey pashmina - I think I''ll probably try to take the dress with my if I can so I can compare. Or I might just get two - Ivory/White and Grey are good neutrals and could go with a lot of dresses I own. I''ll also dig through the shoe collection and see what else I have there - I did just get a pair of ADORABLE calvin klein heels with black peep toes and stacked wood heels (sounds strange I know but they are super cute). I think I''ll try on what I have with the dress sometime tomorrow or this weekend and see if I can find something I like...
It looks like you are all set with your dress and you look great in it. I have been busy but wanted to post some dresses for you that I really like. I really just love looking at dresses. Wish I had the money to buy them all and then have more places to wear them to......
I like the second set of heels a lot. The first ones might be too casual.
I personally loved your hair at the GTG (did I tell you that BTW! It looked FABULOUS) but I think in the humidity and heat... wearing it naturally curly will be easier to manage (just from wars with my own hair) and it looks so lovely on you too, especially with the great new length!
Accessories. Well, I like fun a slightly funky large earrings. So I''d go for something like these... only with silvertone.
merrijoy - I don''t mind at all that you posted those. I''m always on the lookout for good dress options - as this whole thread (and my previous one!) so clearly demonstrate, I have a really tough time finding good dresses, especially for more formal events. Thanks so much for the suggestions - I may try to find some of them to try on
Tacori - I''m so glad you agree with the general consensus - you seem to have a nice eye for these things (and other things - that new Tessa ring is TDF
), and I really appreciate your opinion.
Gypsy - I agree about not straightening my hair - probably just asking for trouble in that heat and humidity
I think I''ll hold off on deciding about up vs. down until I see what the weather is going to be.
