I feel a bit sorry for her in that her moral compass got lost/ corrupted decades ago. In her warped/”love” addled mind I’m sure she thought her obscene behaviour reasonable and justified. No one was being dragged kicking and screaming so that made it ok. Epstein used her, it’s much less likely he would have been able to procure these young women without her “veneer” of normalcy.
Those poor young girls, preyed on by sophisticated and manipulative adults who lied to them and deceived them for their own perverted pleasure.
The verdict was correct and I hope a relief and closure for those woman whose childhoods, 14 year olds are children, were destroyed by the pair.

I hope she'll have a loooooong life in prison.
I won't be able to say anything with being expletive so I'll leave it at that.

@Bron357 said so eloquently what her role was. And is so much more generous than me in being able to be sorry for her.

The pilot of Epstein's private jet testified that among the passengers he flew to Epstein's four opulent residences were Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, and Bill Gates.

I wonder why the government didn't call them as witnesses for the prosecution.
Hmmmmm.
You don't suppose ....
Na. Not possible.
Surely America's and England's royalty are good Christians.

I read around 150 women received payment from Epstein's victim compensation fund, but only 4 testified.
Kudos to these four women, and IMO that 146 apparently declined testifying illustrate the horrible toll such trials inflict on women. :nono:
First they are abused by the criminal, then they are abused by the system.

It is inconceivable to me that she procured these young women for so long for him. Was her motivation love? Money? Both? How could you feel that you were in love with a man who wanted - maybe in addition to you - 14 year old kids multiple times a day? How could she have justified this in her mind or her heart? Lifestyles of the rich and famous can be so disgusting - I guess money can buy you all sorts of perversion at the huge mental and physical expense of the less fortunate. Not a new concept by any stretch but still . . .just glad that there is some justice in this world for some victims.

Not at all surprised by the verdict.

Bron said it so well.

Her father was a horrendous man, a bully and controlling. Her sense of right and wrong obviously got totally skewed over the years and this disgusting position she ended up in with Epstein probably ended up feeling almost normalised. Boiling frog syndrome.

Not that it justifies her actions but I can see how warped one could be in the bizarre world she grew up in and continued with powerful, corrupt and perverted men surrounding her.

Just tragic all round. Especially for these young girls who were coerced and abused.

I agree lonysis. Because of her background she became used to appeasing difficult men. The Maxwell's for a time lived in the house behind ours when I was growing up and I remember my parents talking about what a crook he was back then.

Ghislaine was on record saying that the procured girls were "nobodies". However they seemed anal about being associated with the rich and famous, always on the lookout for a bigger fish to social network with. In a way it's the same thing - people being objectified for what they can do for them.

She had the world at her feet with an Oxford education, apparent social skills and connections and she chose to go that way. JK Rowling's, "it's not your abilities but your choices that define you" seems apt here.

Perfectly put, lonysis.

"Prosecutors cited bank records showing she had received $30m (£22m) from Epstein between 1999 and 2007 as evidence she had been motivated by money."

@kenny Thanks for finding that! Surely 30M could be a large motivator but still … she essentially sold her soul for money. Not the first time in history of course but makes her more than the girlfriend or his Girl Friday. I had read that she approached some of the girls and offered them masseuse training but the bait and switch - good grief!!

A few of her siblings seemed to be at the trial supporting her and proclaiming her innocence 100%. It's neither here nor there, I guess, but I wonder what she thinks of her role in all this. My guess would be that she just thinks she is the victim now and hard done by with terrible jail conditions.

She is a mess, guilty or not.

I have a lot of respect and admiration for her siblings. I would have done the same for my sister.

I would want to help her in the best possible way I can.

ChaiK - I firmly believe the family are secondary victims in cases like these.
