So,I have three pairs of diamond stud earrings from a maul store. (pre-pricescope) this store has a trade-up policy. Because I no longer wear three sets of earrings simultaneously, I decided to look into the trade-in to try and get some bigger stones.

I was told that I1 meant that you COULDN''T see anything with the naked eye. So, as I casually mention that I see a couple clouds in the stone, she tells me I''m looking TOO closely. When judging a diamond, I shouldn''t hold it that close to my eye! Then I was told that H-I colors were as good as it gets. Then when I asked to see the certs, I was told that I wouldn''t know how to read them. So, I get one of the certs and it doesn''t have any table, crown, pavilion, depth listed. (what kind of cert is that?!?!) So, I ask if they have that info. I was then told that those numbers DON''T MATTER. "At least not on rounds!" So, I''m trying not to chuckle as she hands me 1.5ctw I1 H-I stones with a price tag of $5999!! My husband smiles endearingly, says "no-thanks" and we walk out of the store giggling.

Every time I walk out of one of these Maul Stores, i wonder, will one ever be staffed with people who have a clue? There must be intelligent staffers somewhere? Or, have they all moved on to becoming our beloved vendors??

Now, what to do with my earrings?!?

I just pass my old things on to my girls and start over with better quality!

I have 2 pairs of 1/2 carat diamond earrings I want to upgrade. One pari is really nice and I can upgrade at that jewelry store without worrying about what I''ll get. The other pair though is from a mall store and I''ve looked twice now and came away both times saying "ewwwww" because their studs are so included and cloudy. They do have some certified diamonds but they are twice the price I would pay for them and they are only good cut diamonds. I am thinking of using that pair of earrings as side stones in a ring. They are pc and are okay but not great stones. If you do have someone you can pass them on to; it makes a nice gift for them. My nieces and sisters have some of my jewelry that was too nice to sell but something I didn''t care to wear anymore.
