Hey All.

First off I would like to say thank you so much for all of your help. You helped me choose and design an incredible engagement ring for my future wife. It was perfect and she said YES!

Here is the original forum:

We are doing more of an aggressive wedding schedule and are getting married this September (10 month engagement). I am now looking at wedding bands. Just getting ballpark ideas.

If you re-read the forum above (you don't have to) I basically created a custom ring.

I used the shank of this ring: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/14k-white-gold-2mm-comfort-fit-solitaire-engagement-ring-item-7086

With the head of this ring: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/14k-white-gold-rounded-pave-engagement-solitaire-item-8116

What do you think is an ideal wedding band to match? I definitely want diamonds in the band. Please note that the stone is gorgeous and looks white and beautiful but the stone is down in color J - so didn't know if that is a factor when surrounding it with other diamonds. Here engagement band is 2MM so I was hoping for matching size as well.

Thanks again!
Ken

Well first off, where are the pictures of the ring!? I like to get paid in photos for my services ;)

Secondly as the side of this ring is somewhat squared off. I'd get a bright set wedding band to match... The both give off a somewhat squarish vs rounded edge. Also, it gives you a buffer between the diamonds of the band and your e ring.

I'll post a photos to explain what I mean momentarily

Like these. The top one is DSs I believe.

I was sort of looking for something more uniform - meaning bumps up right next to the engagement band so they are side by side and uniform in width. just my own personal preference.

What's her preference?

A lot of women don't want a band to have a bend in it because sometimes you like to wear the wedding ring alone. And alone, those bumps look weird.

Also, is there really that much of a bump from the prongs? It would pretty much sit flush as is.

The ring is gorgeous. Since it is a solitaire there are a lot of bands that would look good with it (no help I know).

I don't think there is that much of a bump from the head. She definitely said she wants them flush and she said she would ideally never wear the band by itself.

I'm thinking of ordering something from James Allen and having it be a surprise for valentines day since they have 15% off and if we don't like it we can just return it.

Any options your enjoy there?

Please post photos of the ring for better recommendations.

I did... It's above in this post.

Congratulations, beautiful ring! From the pictures on JA it seems the diamond has a really low profile and in order to get a wedding band to sit flush it will have to be notched or curved. I'm thinking you may have to have a wedding band custom made to sit flush. You will have plenty of occasions in the future to shower her with more jewelry surprises :big smile:

ETA: eternity bands of various shapes and colors would make a nice "stack" if she ever changed her mind and decided 'gaps' weren't so bad, or she could wear a 'flushed stack' ;)

The prongs are coming right out of the band. There is no donut. The gap would be minute. I think it would not be flattering to get a band with a curve.

However, post some profile shots of the ring, op,and we can assess further.

I think the pictures you posted are beautiful and classic examples of wedding ring styles that would compliment the engagement ring. I wouldn't choose a curved or notched ring and I think you wouldn't either, but to meet her request for a flush fit it might be an avenue he needs to explore. Sometimes we want what we want, like what we like, and later change our mind...comes with being a girl, right?

I'm not saying pick it becuase I like it, but what I'm saying is the bump is likely so minute it might sit less flush with a bump in it than it would just strait.

FWIW, I think it would be kinda silly to do a curved band with this ering. There's no donut or anything, so any band is gonna sit almost flush with it... Buuuuutttttt, if she's dead set on a flush fit band, then you'll have to solder them together. Even contoured/curved/notched bands won't stay flush all the time (and then you've got a tacky bent band showing).

I'd definitely go with a straight band... as long as it isn't too tall, it'll fit next to the ering nicely. :))

If JA made it, might they be able to recommend something that best fits your criteria? Best of luck gorgeous ER! Ten month engagement is aggressive? Ours was 4 months. Again, best of luck.
