thank you aljdewey, maisie, surfgirl, kaleigh, love in bloom, dee jay, haven, and snlee for all of your wonderful comments.
it was SUCH a special day...i just love looking at the pictures over and over again!!
to answer a few questions...
The Chuppah: Yes, we did use a tallit. My husband's brother, sister, and 2 cousins were also married beneath it. All of their names and wedding dates are embroidered in white along its border. I LOVED the tradition of it, and I actually thought it looked nice as well. If I could change ANYTHING (and this is really nitpicking here), I would have had plain wood or bamboo sticks holding it up instead of the white poles with the greenery and flowers...
(PS...I can't believe I spelled Ketubah wrong in the signing picture caption...sorry!)
The Cake: I LOVED IT!! We used LaStarr bakery and she did an amazing job! We actually didn't even order it until 2 weeks prior to the wedding. THe flavors were vanilla and chocolate with a mint filling and the icing had a slight mint taste as well. Delicious! Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view), it was cut a little later than we expected and since we got married on a Sunday, many of our guests had already left. Not only do we have the top layer saved, but they didn't even touch the bottom layer either so we've got that as well!!!
My Bouquet: All I said was light pink and I let the florist do her job. i LOVED how she matched the roses to my pink sash. You can't tell very well in these pics, but there were crystals in the center of the flowers and they sparkled beautifully. Also, there were a bunch of gardenias so the smell was unbelievable!!
Anyway, thanks again for all the kind words. I'm still on cloud 9!!
Beautiful wedding! Everything about it looked fantastic, especially you! And your mother is really beautiful, she looks like she could be your sister, for sure!
I love that you wore your straps for the reception (I can''t see them in the ceremony pics so I''m assuming you didn''t wear them for that?), the dress looks so beautiful either way!
What a beautifully elegant wedding. Everything looks so classy! I love the balck dresses and a great combo of white and pink flowers. Who is the designer of your dress, it is GORGEOUS!!!!
oh and the DIY menu....WOW!! SO perfect!
great job and congratulations on the beginning of your marriage.
You looked so beautiful in ALL the pictures and glowing. I love how much you expressed your love for your mother and her appearance. And yes she too looked lovely...and WAY TOO YOUNG!! The pinks were sooo beautiful...the sash...the cake...the arrangements. Was there a rose on each plate?
I am so hungry for something sweet I can actually taste your cake as you described it. Drats. Means I have to have a sweet fix...no mint in the house...I suppose I could dip a chocolate chip in toothpaste. I am pathetic. Hey...you have an entire base of the cake not eaten...
Thanks for sharing the photos...please send us more!!
What a stunning wedding! It looks so stylish, I can''t stop looking at the pictures! You are a beautiful bride and you and your husband look SO happy. Congratulations!
Wow...you guys are all so wonderful. Thank you so much for all your kind compliments! To answer the new questions...
My mom: yes, she looks amazing. She''s 58, if you can believe it! I''ve been told I look young my whole life (I''m 29), but suddenly now people are asking if we are sisters (I guess I''m looking older and she''s looking younger!). It''s really cute to see my mom''s reaction!
Monarch, yes, I only wore the straps on the dress for the reception. I was having a couple issues with my bra showing during the formal pictures so I thought I''d play it safe. I was so glad I put them on...I didn''t have to fool with the dress at all!!
Sophie, thank you for complimenting the dress. It was a SAGA. It was a Marianne Lanting, and I ended up loving it. I have a couple posts on here from February and March telling about everything that went wrong. THank goodness it was perfect at the end. I also had a white sash that matched the ribbon at the bottom of the organza, but I''m glad I decided to wear the pink the whole night. I LOVE pink!!
Doorknob (love the name), yes, we did do roses at each seat. The florist originally wanted to do orchids but that was WAY more expensive, and I loved how the roses turned out anyway.
I love EVERYTHING about your pics! My goodness, that is the most gorgeous cake I have ever seen - and you and your husband look gorgeous together. Thanks for sharing!!
