Hi all. I just got my ering back. I had the top of the band rounded off and it''s perfect. I got to have a really good look at it today until the bright lamp and I can see marks on the top of the stone and was wondering if anyone can tell me what they are.
I am pretty sure they are not inclusions, as I can find the feather listed on the AGS cert, but these look different and MUCH bigger. I can see them with the naked eye if I tilt the stone up to the light. They are not on the table, but just off to the side . When the light hits the surface of the stone, I can see what looks like two scratches. I first thought they looked like watermarks so I popped them in the US, wiped them with a soft cloth and they are still there.
So questions - the AGS cert does say ''surface grain lines not shown'', could these be surface grain lines? They look very big and easy to spot so I would have thought they would have marked them down on the inclusion plot. It''s a VS2, which is eyeclean by WF standards.
Is there a chance that these are scratches that have been made after the stone was certified? It was certed then send straight to WF for setting so it''s not like it hung around for ages, or had another owner.
I guess in a way it''s good cause I can easily spot them now and I know it''s my stone, I just want to know what they are, and if they are cause for concern.
I have attempted to draw how big these marks are, obviously not exactly to scale, but they give you an idea of what I am yapping on about.
Thanks guys for input, etc.
Here is the link to the cert and other stuff
