Do you do your own nails or do you get them done? And if so, how often?

I get my nails done about once every 6 months....

BUT I have a lot of nailpolish and nail supplies- files, cuticle creams, clippers, cuticle clippers, base coat, top coat, tons of colors- that really work! I love Essie...

I normally do my nails once or twice a week, but have been so busy I haven''t in a while. I think I will do them tonight!

Manicures? Next to never. They chip so easily and I have a bad habit of peeling the remaining polish. I try to get somewhat regular pedicures in the Spring, Summer and Fall, however...every six(ish) weeks.

Exactly! Me too!

I like manicures but usually end up messing them up before I even get home! So I don''t have them done often. I do them myself every so often. Usually they''re just painted with clear polish.

I never have manicures. I have had acrylics done a few times but I always want them removed after a couple of weeks. They are just not practical for me and I don''t like the upkeep. I prefer short painted nails. I have lots of OPI nail polishes.

Don''t feel guilty! Its a lovely treat to have your nails done. I don''t get mine done because its a waste of money... I always chip my nails really quickly!

Professionally done every two weeks on average; my girl really knows her products/techniques and my nails hold up pretty well.

I like short nails, normally I do my nails myself every week. Usually they''re just painted with clear polish.

I''m a perfectionist when it comes to manicures, so I do them myself. I''ve never had a salon manicure where I felt they did a better job than me on cuticle trimming and polish application. If I use a bold color, I like my nails to be very short "squovals", but for clear or very pale colors, I like my nails to be a little longer. How often I get around to doing a manicure varies wildly; sometimes it''s once/week, sometimes it''s once every 2 months. I do my own pedicures too, and they last at least 3-4 weeks without any chipping.

I have acrylics and I get them done every 2 weeks or so.

I do them myself and used to do them once a week. I use light pink so chips don''t really show. Now that I am a mom I am lucky to do them once every two weeks.

I almost never get manicures because I end up chipping the polish right away. All that darn housework!

(I do give my hubby pedicures though. Don''t worry - no polish. He calls his pedicures his "torture." Poor guy.

Um.... never?

My nails are naked 99.9999999% of the time. I bought nail polish for my wedding day and forgot to put it on! I wore nail polish for my brother's wedding in March, and I thought it looked so freaky

I'm just not a nail polish person.

I hate fake nails on me, so that''s something I never do. I would *love* to have regular manicures, but my thumbnails always split and break off so short that I never manage to get them long enough to do even a very short nail manicure. I try to do them with OPI strengthener every 10 days or so. I''m not good with my nails at all. I''m currently trying to grow my toenails to the right length to start pedicures for the summer. (I always cut them very short!) I fail at this stuff.

I have acrylics so I get them done every 2 weeks...

When I don''t have acrylics but get manicures I have to get them done weekly because my nails don''t hold up so well.

Never? It feels weird to have a layer of paint on my nails and looks odd on me. However, they looks fine on others.

I used to have them done every week. But my fav manicurist left so I''m now going to another nail salon and prices there are almost double, which means I can only have ''em done every 2-3 weeks.

I do them myself, and I give myself a mani/pedi once a week. I only use OPI products since they seem to last the longest (both on my nails and in the bottle). BUT, I can''t make myself sit still for that long all at one time, so I have a dorky little schedule that I go by:

1. On Tuesdays, I remove my old polish, clip my nails (if needed), file them and buff them.

2. On Wednesday mornings in the shower, I use a mani/pedi scrub by OPI that I *love*! After I get out of the shower, I use lotion and cuticle oil on my hands and feet, and then push back my cuticles. (I NEVER trim my cuticles! Creeps me out!) Then, later in the day on Wednesday, I do a base coat of OPI Chip Skip with OPI Nail Envy over that. (Just completed this step about an hour ago, in fact.)

3. On Thursdays, I apply one coat of color. (Tomorrow''s will be Chocolate Moose by OPI!)

4. On Saturdays, I apply a second coat of color.

5. On Mondays, I apply a third coat of color and/or a clear top coat (unless I feel lazy ~ then I just skip this step).

This works like a charm! I don''t have many chips to deal with, and my nails get to go "naked" for like two days out of each week (which is supposed to be good for them).

I do my own nails. I absolutely HATE having fake ones on, of any kind. Nail polish doesn''t stay very well on my real nails unfortunately, but I still prefer it to the fake ones which seem to break all the time. I had them done when I got engaged and they broke so often I got them taken off. They were on for almost six months and RUINED my nails underneath, which have never been nice to begin with. Now I just paint them myself, every five days or so when they start to chip. I''ve found that keeping them very short and painting EXTREMELY thin coats makes them stay a lot longer though. I do like getting pedicures every now and then but it''s rare.

I''ve found that I really like maybelline express finish nail polish, but now I want to try the OPI stuff. Maybe I''ll get some!

I love how they look when I do them (myself), but I never do them, so they never look like that. LOL.

In the winter I paint them some variation of red. But now they're just naked. Not filed, not clipped, just crooked and fugly. Luckily my pretty ring still looks pretty on my un-manicured hand.

I usually get one every few months, just for a little treat. Other than the times I get manicures, I usually leave them naked, mainly because I can only give myself a good-looking paint job on one hand. If only I was more ambidextrous...

I never get them professionally done, but I paint them with clear polish every few weeks if I'm bored. I often have to take nail polish off for work, so it's not worth it to spend any money on them.

I do keep my toes painted and probably re-do them every 3-4 weeks (often with a touch up paint in between if they're really chipped).

ETA: I agree with others that when I have gotten a manicure, I've chipped them within the first day. Just not worth it when I'm going to mess them up (and once they're messed up, I just take the rest of the polish off because I'm OCD about it

Cuticles once a month (or two months). Change polish once every two weeks. I don''t do it myself at home. It always messes up. But there is a nail school near my job and I get it "professionally" done for $5. The only funny thing is when the girls get creative and put a little flower on my thumb or something like that

Every 2 weeks, faithfully for the past 8 years or so!! Biosculpture nails!
My guilty pleasure! (one of them

I think I''ve had 2 manicures in my entire life. Don''t think I''ve ever had a pedicure, but I''d sure like one. My mom gets them once every few months and loves it - I love foot massages, so I''m sure I''d love the soaking part.

Anyway, I NEVER put nail polish on my fingernails - I just look really weird with color there. I''m much better with just naked nails. I do keep them well trimmed though - I''m a stickler, so I like to do it myself.

I usually don''t polish my toenails during the winter. But when it''s warm out, I like to usually have some color on them. Just put my first coat of the year on them this past weekend actually. Haha and that coat stays for a few weeks till it''s time to trim the toenails. Usually I''ll take the polish off and trim, then let them air out for a few days before I repaint them.

Do your own. If you keep your utensils clean, you will never get an infection. But you can at a salon. Now, having said that, I do know one salon where I will get pedicures. Only one. And in Texas, there seems to be a nail salon on every block. But I''ve seen the 20/20 expose on nail salons - - ick.

If you never get false or gel nails, or tips, you will never have to subject yourself to the debrading of your nails first. HUGE cause of nail infections. Then if you get an infection, you must have the phonies removed, and it takes a good long while to get your nails back to normal. I never did them myself, but my BF did; about three years into wearing them, she got an infection and had a heck of a mess. Stopped me cold from ever getting my own done.

I don''t wish to upset anyone on PS who is a manicurist. I thoroughly enjoy getting pedicures. And these things CAN be done without injury and infection to the client. But you must know who you are dealing with, and how they clean their equipment/tools. You cannot blindly trust everyone who hangs out a shingle. And I will never again, personally, go to anyone who does not speak and understand more than very rudimentary English. It''s difficult to size up your salon if you cannot communicate effectively. And, of course, I ended up with an ingrown toenail, and its subsequent infection. Lesson learned.
