I finally have made an appointment to get my manicure and pedicure that I desperately need. I usually refuse to do these types of things since I am capable of clipping, filing and painting myself, but things have gotten to where I need a professional. My feet have tons of dry skin that I cant seem to get off and my cuticles are out of control on my fingers.

I am trying to decide what to do since I dont want to have to spend more time in there than I have to. I want a game plan walking in. I am thinking of getting the french manicure on my hands, but dont now what to do with the toes. I am not big on the french manicure look on toes, but I love the way it looks in the summer on my hands.

What do you suggest?

Perhaps something nudish looking for toes?

I love the look of a pink-ish orange on toes in the summer! Something around this color. I also love a french, but I know it''s not in everyone''s taste.

Hehehe...I love that you want to have a plan of action for the nail salon! I find that light colors last longest since you don''t notice the growing out like you would with a darker color. Sometimes though, if I could too light, I feel like I didn''t get my money''s worth because it looks like I didn''t get anything done.

For summer, I''m a big fan of bright, fun colors. An orange-pink would be nice, or a purple-pink.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am really liking that orange-pink color.

So I am not breaking any kind woman code by having my fingers and toes not match?

Personally, I hate having my fingers and toes match! I'm not into matching in general, and I definitely don't want my fingers and toes to be the same color. I do try to pick colors that look good together, but if you're doing a regular french manicure on your hands, any toe color will go with it.

I also don't like nude or light colors on the toes - they're so far away (being all the way out on your feet) that the color doesn't really show up. I like a bright or saturated color that I can see.

I like your style elro!

i love bright colors but on my dark skin they tend to look garish esp in summer when i am darker. so i tend to go with french on toes most of the summer and then dark colors for fall/winter. factor in your skin tone when thinking about what you want to put on your toes. also factor in your footwear...and your work environment.

when in doubt though, a soft pinky nude color or just a soft sheer pink works for all skin tones on hands and feet IMO!!

French pedis freak me out! They make people's toes look like little, wiggly fingers peeping out of their sandals!!!!

Anyway, I like darker polish on my toes and lighter on my hands. If you go in with a general idea of what you want, your nail tech will try out a couple different shades for you to see which you like best. And it only takes a minute, I swear!

ETA: This thread cracks me up, RQ! I love that you want a game plan going in!

I love colors like this in the summer:
OPI nail polish

I agree with Mara that you have to take skin tone into account. I have really pale skin, so I think pale colors look washed out, while brights and medium tone colors look awesome. I also have colors that I hate on my fingers, but love on my toes, for some reason. I think almost any color, no matter how crazy, looks great on my toes, even blues and greens.

French pedis bother me too!

I like pinks on my toes, and french on my hands. Lighter, nudeish colors hold up a little longer in my opinion.

Nudes/french make my toes look longer

I love and have on Opi pool party Pink, also adore Russian Navy? not sure but it looks like sapphire.

elro- that is almost the exact color I got. When I look at my finger and then look at the screen it is perfect. I know some of you dont like the matchy toes and fingers, but I liked it so much on my toes that I ended up getting it on my fingers too because once I got thinking about it I broke two nails recently and a french would have looked silly until they grow out and are more the same legnth.

I had never been to this place before and it was the best! It looked like a hole when I pulled up and I thought "Oh no. What have you done?" The pedi chair had this electronic massager. It wasnt just a regular massager either. It knneaded and pounded and the seat did by butt and thighs. It was the best pedi I ever had. The woman doing it was an owner and she was nice and pretty and efficient. I know that it shouldnt matter what they look like, but it makes the experience so much easier when there is a pleasant face to look at.

I know that no one lives near me, but this place was AWESOME!

Thank you all for your help. I might have to track down this color and buy it. The bad thing is that the little OPI sticker was gone from the bottom of the bottle so I have no idea what the name was.

The one you got might not be exactly the same as the one I posted, but that one is called "My Chihuahua Bites". If you find a store that sells the whole collection of OPI, I''m sure you can compare your nails with similar colors.

My motto: ON TOES, EVERYTHING GOES!!!"

Go with a nice color! you are looking at it from a distance, so the most annoying color would drive you crazy on your hands, but put on toes, it takes a different turn!!!

A couple weeks ago I got Lyford Lilac by Essie on my toes. It is sort of a neutral color but but had more personality than the usual nudie colors. Let us know what you decide!

Totally late to this thread, but I just got my toes done on Saturday and I did an orange pink color. Tokyo Sunrise maybe? I LOVE it. It''s such a great summer color. I like it so much I might do it all summer.

Toes are all about fun. I LOVE pedis and usually get a bright pinkish or purplish shade. Last one I had was a french and found that quite tame. Right now I did mine with Shellac in a brown shade that I only love because of the shine. My toes and fingers rarely match.

I tried to take a pic, but they keep coming out looking red. I bet I could go all summer with this color.

I love bright colors on the toes in the summer - the brighter the better. I normally do a hot, hot pink, but lately I did a DYI pedi with bright blue polish and I''m loving it.

For my nails though, I tend to do nudes or near-whites year-round. I''m too rough on my fingernails (typing, just banging my hands into something, etc.) for darker colors to last more than a day or two without chips.

I 100% agree. I like french manis or pale pinks/beiges on my hand and color on my toes. I usually do bright colors in the spring/summer and darker, jewel tones in the fall/winter. Just go with what you like. You can''t go wrong!

Same. I wear bright colors on my toes and leave my hands simple. I''ve only had one pedicure in my life though. . .my collection of OPI colors is out of control. Something like 40 or 50 of them so there are many to choose from and I don''t feel compelled to go to a salon. People always ask me where I had my toes done.

If you like reds, OPI has some great classics like "I''ve got the blues for red." It''s a great color that compliments all skin tones (but best with feet that have a hint of color). For pinks, there is "Hottie Pink," which is NOT has bright as it sounds. A great basic!

I like all french if it is subtle, but in general HATE matching nails and toes, so I typically get subtle french, nude, or dark red on my nails and then corals (summer) or dark reds/plums/greens/pinks...on my toes.

my mom loves super pale pinks, but I am like "what''s the point" :-)
