Hi there,

I''m new and this is my first post, though I''ve been following this forum for several months and have benefited from all of your expertise! Thank you.
My questions: Does anyone know anything about Malakan diamond company? My boyfriend and I went looking at a local shop and fell in love with a ring there by Malakan (model L1918) on the Malakan site. It closely resembles the Tiffany legacy which I love but had put out of my mind at least for now. I was thrilled and the one in the shop was only half our budget. However, the stone in the one they had at the shop was a little smaller than we had planned on - .43 carat round. We were thinking more along the lines of .60 or .70, and when we asked about getting a slightly larger version our local shop made it sound like they wouldn''t be able to work with us on that. The setting that they have in stock will not accommodate a larger stone. The one on the Malakan site is only slightly larger for the center stone - .54, but looks more substantial. (The reason I''m being a "size queen" is because I have large hands and fingers, so it''s all about proportion on my finger.) The one in the store is priced at about 2,500 and the one on the Malakan site is about 4100.
So I guess I''d welcome any feedback on Malakan, Tiffany legacy knockoffs, and whether or not .43 vs. .54 can possibly make a difference in the proportions of the ring.

Many thanks,
Kimmels

oops, the one on the Malakan site is .70, I think. for 4100 dollars.

I''ve never heard of them. What kind of jeweler did you see these rings at? And do you know anything about the center stones? The most important thing for appearance is CUT. A well cut stone can look so much bigger than a poorly cut one because it reflects so much more light.

Thanks! I''ll see what info I can collect from Malakan and the local jeweler. And in the meantime, if anyone has any information on the company or their products, please let me know.
Thanks again!
