Hi all,

I could really use some help here, trying to decide which of these two stones to go with to me they seem virtually the same! I uploaded the GIA reports as pdf documents.

GIA # 1139444383 1.51ct
Price $9,750 (50% down and then up to 24 month financing with 0%)
HCA on this one is 5.5, buy it if price is main concern (definitely a factor!)
I have looked at this stone in person, doesn't appear hazy or milky in the sunlight coming through windows even with strong blue (would the windows in the building filter stuff out of sunlight?)

GIA # 6125868106 1.51ct
Price $9,600-$10,600 (18 month financing with 0%)
HCA on this one is 5.3
I am going in to look at this one on Sunday, this stone has a very strong blue which is a little concerning but hopefully I will actually be able to get outside to look at it.

Just based on these numbers and GIA reports which stone appears to be better as far as quality goes? Im hoping that the second one performs just as well as the first, I had a slightly better experience and vibe at their establishment, other place was okay just didn't care for the environment as much.

I could really use some input here. Let me know if there is any other info that could help make decision, first place had aset device but I didn't know how to use it or what to look for, not sure what other store has as far as scopes go.

Respectfully,

PC from Portland

Re: Make up my mind! Which of these two 1.5ct rounds are bet

To be very honest, the HCA told you really what you needed to know, and that is that neither of these is worth buying. The score over 5 indicates the stones have problems. A score of under 2 is really great, and 2-3 is worth looking into more. But both of these stones are going to have leakage, and I am positive you can do much better than these. Be sure to check diameter on 1.5 ct. stones because the diameter should be 7.4mm or very close to it. (look for depths of 62.3 or less)

Okay, here is the info on the second stone from the HCA:

Selected: 62.7% depth, 56% table, 36° crown angle, 41.2° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
HCA scores were adjusted Dec. 15, 2001 and Feb. 6, 2003.

Factor Grade
Light Return: Good
Fire: Fair
Scintillation: Good
Spread
or diameter for weight: Very Good
Total Visual Performance 5.3 - Good - Only if price is your main criterion

You really want to see some "excellent" scores and maybe 1 or two "very good". You really don't want a diamond with light return of "good" or fire "fair".

I would MUCH rather see someone go down to a really great 1.3 ct. stone over a not-so-good 1.5.
