I am currently having a custom ring made by White Flash- the process has been great by the way!

While I know the ring will be very unique because it is custom made- I am looking for a way to make it easily identifiable.

An idea I have seen is to have a small stone set inside the band of the ring- perhaps a birthstone. (that would not be visible from the outside)

Any ideas? you all are full of them!!

Thanks!

That is a lovely idea, as long as said birthstone is durable enough to undergo the process. What stone are you considering?

It''s very sweet, but not exactly what I would call unique these days. It seems to be VERY popular to do that right now.

I think the most unique thing is to have something engraved inside, like wedding date, initials, or phrase.

I was thinking of a blue sapphire.

Ditto.

But I do like the surprise stone idea too!

birthstones inside the shank is exactly what I wanted to do w/ my custom ring I just finished designing, however one of them (emerald) was too fragile for this. Sapphire is very strong , 2nd to diamond I believe, so that''ll work just fine. And I think it''s a cool thing to do... it may be done regularly by people who do custom settings but I would think it would be pretty rare thing to do when buying a standard setting from a store. I think it''s probably just as popular as engravings (just me guessing).

But anyway, both ways are great ways to make it unique b/c it''s not like you can print a photo of your faces on the inside of the shank - options are limited when talking about rings. So I say, go for it!

Agree. Engraving your name inside makes it instantly identifiable as belonging to you.

You could do your surprise stone and engrave it.

Thanks everyone! I think that I am going to do the suprise stone, and engrave it as well! Can''t get anymore unique than that on such a small item!

I''m doing the birthstone thing, but since this ring is my upgrade, I am doing all 4 of my family birthstones.
I asked for natural stones, but in the end Leon will make that choice.
I''m also considering the under basket, the part that sits on my finger, to be a fancy version of my last name initial.

do you have special names for each other? Maybe engrave those inside.
