Madonna Thinks Of "BLOWING UP THE WHITE HOUSE"

Wait...didn't Donald Trump encourage the 2nd Amendment folks to turn their guns on Hillary? And didn't he also encourage Russian hacking?

Where's the condemnation of him for similar statements?

You take everything that President Trump says literal. If you do it for one, you need to do it for others. Or are you a hypocrite?

You mean like the poster in the other thread who thought it was cute to see young kids call the President piggish.

Teach your kids to disrespect the highest office in the land?

Better yet, shouldn't we teach our kids that name calling is wrong where EVERYONE is concerned?

Sorry Ruby, This President doesn't deserve our respect. It will be a cold day in hell I respect anyone who openly admits to sexual assault.

Respect is given when it is deserved. Trump has done nothing to deserve anyone's respect. In fact, he's done tons of things that have lost him my (and many other's) respect.

Don't have kids, but if/when I do, I plan to teach them that respect is earned, not given on the basis of a position of power.

Yes, the highest office in our country does deserve respect. And if we do not like his actions, we vote him out.

Kids need to be taught to respect authority. And then the steps to take if they feel someone is abusing it. We have legal avenues for that.

Slippery slope.

What has a fellow class mate earned.

Yet, in schools there is zero tolerance for bullying and name call.

Everyone deserves respect on the basis that they are a human being. Who are you to judge who qualifies or does not?

Did you respect Bill Clinton?

Did you respect Kennedy? Kennedy had a girl in every port, and Clinton never saw a vajay he did not try to take advantage of.

I was a very small child when Kennedy was President. I did not approve of Bill's cheating and felt it was Hillary's business if she decided to stay married to him. I think Trump is a terrible human being.

well, Madonna's in good company. Whenever the name Trump comes up, my kindly 86 year old MIL says "Maybe we'll get lucky and someone will shoot him". I usually agree and then think how horrific a Mike Pence presidency would be.....

Trump is a slightly rabid orange kitten with a ball of string. Pence on the other hand, is a true believer (meaning - ideology trumps all and WILL be enacted by hook or by crook) who actually does have a clue about how to wield political power. He's far far scarier, yes.

Has anyone seen Madonna in concert recently? This chick rolls out on a tricycle, with her buttcheeks hanging out. I don't take her seriously.

She's a narcassist calling out another narcassist.

Now the flipside.

There are many that have made threats against the white house, the president (take your pick, they've all had massive threats against them) and some have followed through. Threats to the seat of our democrazy is real (#notchangingspelling...lol) All threats, foreign or domestic, should be investigated period. Its nothing personal.

Erica, you can save Pricescope the wasted bandwidth because I have no clue as to why you keep posting a picture of a deceased person every time DF and I make a post?

Like Kenny once told me, just come out and say what you want to say.

It's not up for debate whether Trump deserves respect or not. It's the office, period. How he got there??? If any of us had made such public threats against the WH, we would be spending quite a bit of time with the FBI answering a lot questions.

I caught a snippet last night of Kellyann Conway responding to a question about this, and she said (paraphrasing) "yes, Madonna said she has thought about blowing up the building where my children's mother works". And the other people who work in that building (regardless of who occupies the oval office) are well aware they are already considered a political target, especially after 9/11; I'm sure they and their families could have done without Madonna's reminder as well.

Words matter. If they didn't, why would everyone be up in arms about every single thing they complain about Trump having said on 'the bus' and on the campaign trail.

FTR - that last question was rhetorical, and should not be perceived as a logical fallacy.

And yes, that last statement was sarcasm.

No. You are wrong. EVERYONE deserves kindness and politeness. One definition of respect (and the most pertinent to this conversation) is, according to Merriam-Webster a) High or special regard or b) the quality of state of being esteemed. So, according to definition, respect is above and beyond usual regard.

Also, there is a difference between behaving respectfully (also known as having manners) and respecting someone. I interact with plenty of people for whom I don't have much/any respect on regular basis. I behave respectfully to them because there is nothing to be gained by letting my true feelings show. There's a difference.

I think it was a careless moment and spoken in the heat of the moment. There have been other celebrity political missteps. Jane Fonda comes to mind.

I just hope some crazy doesn't want to help her out.

Tell it to the Feds Lovesdogs! Threatening the POTUS is treason whether you or any of us feel he deserves respect or not. And you're taking my point out of context and trying to twist it into support of Trump. Please don't. That is not the point I'm making. It's not up for debate as far as rule of law is concerned.

She was reading from a script ... which could be considered 'premeditation' for the threat (e.g., she really HAS thought about it). And if she didn't write her own speech, she still chose to speak the words.

Sadly, I think she cast a negative cloud on what appears to have been an otherwise successful event. The bomb threat needs no further elaboration. Her foul language - while her "right" - was not necessary; women are intelligent enough to convey their thoughts to a peaceful audience without going there, especially considering young children were present. She has made public references to her own son's penis, dropped the N-word regarding her own son, and shared a photo of her son (a minor) with friends holding bottles of liquor.

Madonna is NO better than Chump.

She was a poor choice & voice to represent women, and I resent the perception (thanks to her speech at this event) that she somehow does represent me simply because we have the same anatomy. This is why I don't want someone else speaking for me; I can speak for myself and with my vote, thanks to women far more respectable than her.

I think your point is well said, Jen. I respect your feelings about being "grouped" with her based on anatomy alone. I haven't heard/seen her in a long while, so didn't know about any of the other public stuff. I appreciate your ability to think something through and articulate it, even when things get heated.

And Bonfire, I really didn't mean to twist your words. I realize you were saying that you feel the office deserves respect no matter what/who holds it. I disagree with that, but you are definitely right that threats against the WH are serious as far as the law is concerned. I didn't mean to offend you though, I was just frustrated about all the talk of "respect" when I feel this man deserves none.

TY; she's my golden retriever/yellow lab rescue I adopted 15 months ago; she is about 1.5 yrs now. She was doing that cute thing dogs do with cocking their head to the side, and I happened to have my cell camera handy. :D

Thank you Lovesdogs. I appreciate your post and I respect what you are saying. :wavey:

I would just like to assert that "respect" brings to mind Tony Soprano, the mafia, and my idiot ex-husband who was continuously blabbering on about "respect." So when I see posters here demanding that others "respect" whomever holds the office of President in this country, I cringe.

That is all.
