Didn''t see a thread for you (sorry if I missed it)..and would love to hear more about you! What''s your favorite flower? Corny question, I know.

Yaaay it''s posted! Okay, so Lucky what''s your favorite kind of music?

LOL! How funny. I NEVER (seriously, never) venture into the who''s who section of the board. I just stumbled in here today because I noticed that iwanna said in another thread that she posted some wedding pics here. I never got an email from admin or anything! (Not that it matters because I''m happy to chat
9.gif
.)

I''m at work right now, but I promise to be back around 1:30 central. I enjoy a wide variety of music. I''ll expand on that once I''m home!!!

Yay, so glad to see you have a thread, LS!

I will be here!

I''m out work! Whoo hoo!
Thank you Sarah for starting this thread, I''m so flattered that you want to know more about me, especially since I consider myself kind of boring. hehe.
My favorite flower? Hmmm I''d say anything yellow...like daffodils, yellow roses, etc. But there are also these insanely awesome flowers at my grocery store (you know how they always do those intense hybrids) and they have a big black center and huge hot pink petals that look like feathers. Those are the ones I always buy for the house, but they are expensive! Luckily you only need like 4 or 5 to fill a vase.
31.gif

I know I said earlier that I like a wide variety of music, but I guess that isn''t entirely accurate. I basically only like two or three types of music: emo-ish, indie-ish, punk-ish stuff such as Saves the Day, the Smiths, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday--basically if it sounds whiny and the band name sounds like it''s only part of a sentence, I like it. lol I also love new wave 80''s music, and 80''s pop music.

But I also have this other side.....the obsessed with the 90''s side.
20.gif
I went to middle school from 95-97 and since I found those years to be so fun I have a sweet spot for the music at that time. If it was played at a middle school dance, I love it. TLC, Tony Braxton, 112, Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Montell Jordan (lol!), R Kelly, Boys II Men (On bended knee, anyone?).
It''s important to note, however, that I grew up in the very sheltered state of Maine. They didn''t play rap music on our radio...as a matter of fact, in the song "waterfalls" by TLC, they even used to stop the song at the end before Left-eye started rapping, and that was a harmless rap.
20.gif
Anyway, we got rap from MTV of course, and by begging our parents to please buy CDs regardless of the parental advisory. Remember when they used to blank out curse words in some CDs? I wonder if they still do that......

Anyway, that was a really long answer, but as you can see my two sides are polar opposites.
21.gif

DH and I are polor music opposites too. He likes classic rock and band such as the red hot chili peppers, beastie boys, metallica, the eagles, skynard, etc. I can''t get in to any of that. Needless to say we fight over the radio a lot!

Hi Lucky! So......hmm....what''s a good question.....do you like shopping much? If so, what are some of your fav places to shop?

Lucky those flowers sound awesome, post a pic the next time you have some!

And I have to say..that is hilarious about your radio stations if you don''t mind me laughing! We didn''t have a ton of rap stations in the 90''s..only one I think, but it at least played it, lol. I am also a sucker for 90''s rap.
30.gif
I only really wish my parents would have explained to me what gangster rap actually meant..I didn''t really understand it as a kid and thought it was all really cool and all and even thought the "east coast west coast war" was awesome. I didn''t really get that people were actually DYING until both 2pac and Biggie died. Then I think it clicked a bit more..but I guess my parents didn''t really know the difference and if they had tried to explain it to me I wouldn''t have listened.
27.gif
But anyway, FI and I are also music opposites except for like the small segment of songs we have in common and he really likes Coldplay, too. His favorite band is Dragonforce I believe which is like a British 80''s rock cover band or something? They''re kind of like Metallica..kind of. I don''t really get the appeal, I grew out of my heavy metal days.

Hi Lucky! So......hmm....what''s a good question.....do you like shopping much? If so, what are some of your fav places to shop?

joflier...as weird as it sounds I LOVE grocery shopping. I know that''s not the answer you''re looking for so I''ll keep going. haha

I do like shopping for clothes and such, but the only problem I have is that I don''t consider myself to have very much fashion sense. It''s hard for me to pull together outfits and accessories--I''m jealous of girls who can! So I guess you could say my closet is pretty plain. As a matter of fact, I don''t have too much accessories at all. I''ll wear the same jewelry every day, that sort of thing. I wish I was one of those girls who had a ton of bracelets, shoes, scarves, belts, purses, etc...but I have one purse, like 3 pairs of shoes, and one belt that doesn''t even fit. lol!

But as for where I like to shop...I usually do the majority of my clothes shopping at forever 21 or khols (like I said, I''m pretty plain. lol). Every once in a while I''ll "splurge" at express. I''m really a boring shopper I guess.

But I DO love shopping for other people. I put a lot of thought into my Christmas and Birthday gifts and always try to make it something that the person will love. Which reminds me, DH''s b-day is a little over a month from now and I''ve got nothin''.

lol....you live in Richmond, right?

Well when I was 13 or so we took a trip to Virginia (we went to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, etc) and I remember I brought a radio to listen to in the hotel we stayed at (in Richmond)). I was SO shocked that they were playing rap! I recorded as many songs as I could and when I got home I made copies of the tapes for all of my friends.
Omg, I''m still in love with Tupac. The CD player in my car has Tupac in it right now, actually. He left an impression on people that you wouldn''t have even thought of. Example: My old English professor who was in her mid-fourties and the epitome of bland. When she told me she liked Tupac I thought it was the weirdest, yet coolest, thing!

DH loves coldplay too...and Jack Johnson....he always talks about him.

My favorite season is WINTER!!!!!! I know people will probably think that is insane, but I''ve lived in Texas for 7 years and I''d give ANYTHING for some snow. I am so sick of the heat and humidity day after day here. I want to make a snowball, and drink cocoa, and pile on clothes and blankets, and snuggle next to a fire. Sigh.

But of course, once I get my yearly taste of snow I get sick of it real quick. I''m missing snow a lot lately since it''s been almost three years since I''ve seen any! We spent the two xmases in Virginia and it wasn''t snowing there.
But fall and spring make me happy as well. I always get depressed down here when school starts, football is back on, and it''s still 90 degrees out. In Maine it would start to get chilly, the leaves would be falling off the trees, and we''d see pumpkins everywhere. Not here.
7.gif
There is no change. I''ve been ready to leave Houston since 2003. Unfortunately it''s also the same time year I met DH, so I chose to follow my heart. Sigh.
But we are both trying to move back to the northeast as fast as possible, probably within the next two years, since I told him that I don''t plan on looking for a job down here after I graduate.

My mom loves grocery shopping too. I can''t really relate to that one, but hey, whatever floats your boat!!!

Do you enjoy cooking/baking?

Lucky, I''m right there with you on the nostalgic 90''s music! I can''t wait until the 90''s become as big of a genre as the 80''s! When I was in middle school, I used to tape hours of just radio play, and I still have a few that I bust out in my boom box when I''m feeling sentimental!

Oh I wish I had my old tapes!!!! I threw them all out though. Oh well. A friend that I had since childhood made me a CD of popular songs from the 90''s last Christmas though. I love it!!!

You know what else I wish I would have kept? All my notes. Did you keep all of your notes from school? I put mine all in a shoebox that I kept under my bed. I KNOW my mom used to read them. She throws everything out. She threw my diaries out, after letting my step-sister READ them.
29.gif

Okay I''m starting to get mad thinking about it...lol. Basically I had some stuff in her basement, and when she was cleaning out the basement she found them, read them, then proceded to let my step-sister read them before throwing them out. Then she called me and told me that I was a "messed up kid".
33.gif

lol. I prefer "imaginative". I think I just talked about boys and stuff. Man, this is kind off-topic now huh?

Joflier, I love to cook but I will admit to being terrible at baking!

And the extent of my cooking knowledge are the "additional recipes" that are packages of noodles and boxes of rice. haha.
I wonder if cooking and fashion go hand in hand, because part of my problem from cooking from scratch is not knowing how to "accessorize" the food (spices). But who knows.

Does anyone watch that show on the food network....I think it''s semi-homemade or something like that? I love that show. I love short-cuts!!

Just a touch of this, and a pinch of that, and your good to go!!!! Actually, don''t take my advice, I''m a lousy cook.....but it sounded good!

Hi Lucky!! Yeah I''m not too far outside of Richmond when at home. Yeah at school I think it snows a bit more than when I am at home..which is nice except when we have to drive in it!!
14.gif
Snow + windy roads = ew. But it''s not like we got school off for snow when I was growing up..very rarely.
20.gif
One year they didn''t build in ANY snow days at all.
6.gif
I think that''ll be cool to move back north!! I would miss the leaves changing, too. I hadn''t really thought about not having that..
40.gif

As for reading your diaries, I think I would be
29.gif
about that, too! No I know I would be! Ooh I haven''t seen that show, but I will have to check it out it sounds like my kind of show!

What are your top 5 favorite movies?

My top five favorite movies, in no order, are:

1. The Labyrinth (David Bowie anyone?!?!?!?!?)
2. The Goonies
3. The Lost Boys (What? I have a thing for the Coreys!
31.gif
Plus it has an awesome soundtrack)
4. Fight Club
5. Stand by me

Did you notice that 4 out of 5 were made in the 80''s and that three out of five are related by at least one actor? Weird! lol!!

DH''s favorit movies are:
1. Anchorman
2. Old School
3. Dodge Ball
4. Tropic thunder
5. Fight club

He''s a big Will Ferrell fan. A lot of people say that he looks like a younger version of him.
23.gif
3.gif

Now you have to tell me your favorite movies!!!

P.S. Aren''t you at the rally today? If you want to post about it when you get back but feel weird about putting it in the ATW section then go ahead and post it here! Our threads are gone, but I really want to hear how it went!

Totally off topic, but is our thread gone?
7.gif

Yes. I''m not sure why....
7.gif

The last time I checked it wasn''t heated but it had the potential to be. I have my own idea as to why but it would only be speculation. There was no big blow out or anything, but there was definite potential there if someone had logged in on time. Also, I''m sure all of the topics that were against forum rules didn''t help. It''s sad though. I <3 that thread!

How was the rally today?!?!?!

It was awesome!!!!! I am sunburned (oops e-pics tomorrow!
39.gif
), but I have pics!! Do you want to see them?! They're estimating 30,000+ people!

ETA: More later, have to drive home now. And I am really sad about the thread.
8.gif
It was the only place I felt safe in ATW.
7.gif

Of course I want to see them!!!

I know what you mean about the thread. It was our safe haven. Sigh.
39.gif

Don''t be scared though. I think that if you want to start a thread about the rally over there it would be fun, especially since so many of us (dem or rep) don''t know what one is like. Maybe keep it non-partisan? Like if you saw a crazy Obama supporter complain about the crazy McCain supporter too? I think those who aren''t voting for McCain would care less anyway. Or maybe put a disclaimer at the top that you were looking to keep the thread positive...and then post about all the crazies in here so you don''t offend anyone?
11.gif
lol!

Or you could just post in here, but I don''t think people like holly, indy, mrssalvo, jenniferla, diamondseeker, or any of the other reps/indies/moderates know that this thread exists so they won''t get to hear about how fun it was!

It''s up to you, of course. But I''m excited to hear!!!
I''m rambling now. haha

Sorry for getting your thread off track! Yeah I will start a thread later I guess. Or maybe just post it on the Female VP Pick thread since that''s already a Palin thread. From what I saw there weren''t any crazy Obots or McCainiacs there! But I am sure some video clip or photo will come out somewhere considering estimates are from 20,000-50,000 people were there.

Just felt like you could use this:
36.gif

Hehe, Sarah...not sure what you're referring to (I'll have to go back and look), but I imagine it could be a couple of things, so thank you!!!

Anyway, PHEW! What a week!!!! I know, I suck at responding to this thread, but I had a major test in my anatomy class and five page paper due at the same time. I just typed up the last sentence of the paper, and I took the test yesterday morning.
9.gif
The paper is great, if I do say so myself, but I totally bombed the test (and not in a "I'm going to cry about studying the wrong thing and end up getting a 91" type of way...I really bombed it!). Anatomy sucks. I spent four days memorizing practically every bone and ligament in the body, which he claimed was 60% of the test, only to completely freeze once I actually took the test. Sigh. The reason was because most of his questions revolved around the nooks and crannies of the bones (like epicondyles and stuff) and not the actual bones themselves. On top of that, we had to type in our answers, not select from a list. I had been training myself through the book, which shows a picture of a bone with a bunch of arrows all over it and a list of terms to select from on the right to place on those arrows. But when it came down to typing in the actual TERM I froze because I had been teaching myself through reduction and common sense. Sigh. This is probably pretty boring to you. hehe

My degree is a Bachelor of the Science, and this is the only science I need...so that's good. What's bad is that I got a 71 on the TAKE HOME exam, and this one will be way worse because it wasn't take home. I really shouldn't have chosen this course, which is designed for nursing students (SO not going in the medical field). Biology is not my forte by any means. Professor openly admits he makes the class hard...but he does it because he doesn't think any nurse should be able to float through these courses since they'll be dealing with patients. Gotta hand it to him there! Unfortunately, I am not trying to be a nurse! I'm trying to get the class over with.

That was just a little vent. But now I get to talk about how my wonderful DH!
31.gif
9.gif

I actually met him through one of his friends. It's a funny story because DH and I lived in the same apartment complex, right next to each other, and had no idea. One night I was on my porch talking to a friend on the phone, and one of DH's friends (who was visiting DH's roomate) asked me if I wanted to come over. Well, I thought DH's friend was cute
12.gif
, so I went over. DH was sleeping though, so I never met him. I did mention to the friend where I worked (a restaurant at the time), and so like two months later the friend and DH showed up. Except I had forgotten who the friend was, so when he started talking to me I was like "who is this guy?". Anyway, after my shift I sat with them and struck up a convo with DH, and from then on we'd see each other around our apartments so we became friends, and eventually got together. The friend didn't mind....to tell you the truth he was kind of a womanizer back then and tried to pick up every girl. PHEW for DH...that could have gone badly! hehe. That friend is married with a baby now though, so he's doing good.
1.gif

How'd you meet your SO, Joflier?
And tell me about the infamous "JS" Sarah!
9.gif

Lucky I am sorry you''ve been so busy and the test didn''t go well! Anatomy is HARD!! Like 50% of the anatomy students fail the first anatomy class here I believe. I am sure that doesn''t help any..but anyway. I am sorry it didn''t work out like it should have. Well, I must confess I should have gotten more work done this weekend myself.
14.gif
Needless to say my next two weeks are INSANE and it''s at least partially my fault hehe.
1.gif
FI asked if he was distracting me too much or something and I said..well no..because I didn''t feel like doing the work and wouldn''t have whether you were here or not.

Anyway, love your story! It''s good that your DH''s friend did settle down, but I am glad you got your DH instead.
2.gif
1.gif
Sometimes that womanizing rears its head again later for lack of a better term. Some men just attract women like crazy, too, which makes it even worse!

As for me? Well I met infamous JS in college. We were on a plane going to Japan for a study abroad trip and he was seated next to me alphabetically. Haha. I somehow managed not to see him at all during the class the first few weeks, but anyway we hit it off on the plane and kept in touch. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the trip and started dating after we got back. The rest is history I suppose!

Here''s a random question, what''s your favorite kind of animal if you''re an animal lover?

Sarah, what a great story on how you met your DH!! I had no idea you studied abroad. I''d love to hear more about it! I''m thinking of possibly doing that as well, but I''m not sure where. There is a great program through my school...they send you to Europe to learn about the Revolutionary war from *their* perspective. I find stuff like that interesting.

My favorite animal is my pet cat, Bob. hahaha. But if you meant in general, I''d say.......a cat. Bob. lol.
This makes me feel bad because I have four pets, but Bob is just my favorite. He''s a male, about 18 pounds, and a ton of fur. This may sound funny but I swear we are able to communicate. He reads me, I read him. He sleeps on my head every night, and greets me at the door every time I walk in (the dogs continue to do whatever they''re doing). His name was supposed to be Fenway, since I''m a huge red sox fan, but we settled on Bob because that''s what our roomate at the time started calling him.
Just by looking at him I can tell when he''s angry, hungry, annoyed, tired, etc. It''s bizarre. At the same time, he seems to have a sixth sense for me. Here is an example--

My grandfather (who was the really the only male influence in my life and who I loved dearly) died when I was 14....eleven years ago. I still have not completely gotten over it. I have dreams about him maybe twice a year, and it''s always like a "hey...just checking in!" type dream. Well, before I got married I thought about how it great it would be if he was alive and could have been there. But on my wedding day, I didn''t even think about him at all (too busy I guess?) even though I thought I would. A few weeks after the wedding, I had a dream that my family had thrown us a party in celebration. My grandfather showed up to the party late (which I believe was him acknowledging that he was "late" in congratulating me in a dream). In my dream I ran up to him and threw my arms around him, crying...and my real tears ended up waking me up. The second I opened my eyes, Bob jumped on the bed and laid down on my face, purring extremely loud. I couldn''t help but giggle after that. It was like he did it on purpose to console me.

As you can see, I think a lot about dreams and what they mean, too. I believe they are more than just our imagination in our sleep.
