I am currently looking to purchase a diamond, and my girlfriend mentioned that she like the "Flanders" cut. I have not had to much success finding much info or dealers with this cut. I have also stumbled on a Tiffany''s Lucida cut & a Derco Diamond Galia cut, and was trying to figure out the difference. Can anyone tell me which would shine more, and what the rough cost for a 1.75-2.00, f-g, vs1-vs2 would be?

Thanks.

These are all branded cuts and I don't think any is guaranteed to be cut for consistent brilliance... although they might say so.

Neither brand discloses prices, but you could ask a seller for quotes. Around here Good Old Gold carries the Flanders (LINK) and several other unusual "H&A square" cuts you might not have heard about yet (Jubilee, Regent, a suare cushion H&A, Queen of Hearts and Lucere which is a close cousin of Tiffany's brand - the Lucida cut).

I would expect sticker shock from any of these (at least compared to non-branded radiants and princess cuts) - or at least some premium over the cost per carat of ideal cut rounds (which is saying the same thing, actually).

Is H/VS1 Lucida bad (LINK) ?
