Has anyone here heard of a lozenge shaped diamond? There''s one in a Tiffany ring on Nelson Rarities'' gallery. It looks incredible. Anyone have any info? It''s obviously an older cut, somewhere between a cushion and a marquise.

Are these findable? Not that I''m in the market, but I''ve never seen anything like it.

Sure do wish it was turned e/w though

Isn''t it pretty? It has the open cutlet and pav mains of an OEC (I think, I''m still learning), but all squared off!

Yes..., Lozenge shaped Diamonds are great shapes..., originating in the Art-Deco era (early 1900''s)..., usually straight edged step-cut faceting...
They are findable..., not easy but findable, the problem is finding one which was cut correctly displaying the right appearance as most are quite shallow in depth.

Oh, how cool is that! A 'diamond' diamond! How big is that one? How many steps does it have, the same as an EC?

ETA: So the step cut version is more common than the brilliant-ish version? Then lozenge refers to the overall shape.

OMG! YUM!

The Step facet positions and numbers are different than an EC on this specific Lozenge because of its shallowness..., but you can find (rarely) one with the same number of facets as an EC...

Yep..., Lozenge is the french meaning for this specific geometric shape.
Now..., let see if you can guess the weight of this one....

Geewiz, I spend my time trying to tell who on the T has a .5 or a 1.

Actually, put some v-tip prongs on that baby and I think it's about a perfect size 6

.

Maybe 7ish since is looks pretty shallow? And Jada Pinkett Smiths ring is about 10ct iirc?

(guesses within an order of magnitude count, right?)

DiaGem, you have the best pictures!

wow, what an awesome stone! It''s truly a "diamond shaped" diamond! Wouldn''t that be a fantastic cut to become popular! I would totally wear it.

I love to drool over Nelson''s rarities.

I also love www.Joden.com

I think that the yellow diamond is a parallelogram, which is very rare.

Hmmmmm, I say around 7 carats.... I would normally say larger, but it looks like it''s cut very shallow. What a cool stone, it would make an incredible pendant!!! I always love your pictures DiaGem.

I don''t care how shallow it is, that''s a QUARTER it''s next to...it''s gotta be at least 20 carats

Do we win it if we guess correctly

But it''s soooo shallow...I''d guess between 3 and 4 carats. It''s gotta be a surprising number.

so....what''s it weigh!! I''m dying to know...

5ish carats?

I just noticed I owe you guy''s and answer....
