What is the thought about the center stone in a halo-is it generally okay to have a lower color-I, J, or K?
I mean, is it better to have a whiter stone?

Matter of preference, for sure. I think the consideration is the same as a non-halo designs, though. The diamond in my halo is an I.

I am putting a J into a halo. I think my J is one of the best I''ve seen though... The diamonds in a halo are so small, it really should not matter...

There have been several I/J stones in halos that look gorgeous.

I''ll try to link to a few thread for you a bit later today that show examples.

In a well-cut round, it''s generally fine to go pretty low and not notice much of a difference in sidestones. However, in a fancy shape that is J color with higher color sidestones you may notice the difference.

I would take into consideration the color of the stones in the halo, but other than that I think that it is relative to how white or warm you prefer your stones.
