jill_s - I''m going to take some pictures this week end and I''ll post them!

Awesome - can''t wait to see them!

It''s kinda funny, depending on the natural light, my diamond is almost different shades. It''s over cast here in Phoenix today and my diamond is almost a silver color. It''s really cool, almost like liquid silver and very sparkley. When there are no clouds and it''s really sunny, it still faces up really white for a K.

I''d stick with J just because you''ll have a better chance at finding bands to mix and match with it. With a K, especially larger size, smaller diamonds in bands naturally seem whiter and compared to a K will be too much of a contrast IMHO.

Also, trade in, resale, etc. a J is a much better option for keeping it''s value and is still considered ''near colorless''.

Excellent point about wearing a K with another diamond band. I, too, wondered about that. I think I might give it a try and see what I think. I hate to rule out the K just because I''m not sure. I think the only way for me to know *for sure* how I feel about it is to see it in person.
FYI. I have a K, and I have been working my way through this dilemma with non-matching sidestones for the last week. I am having a ring ordered from the manufacturer with J color sidestones because I did not like the contrast. After having trouble with some B&M jewelers who weren''t willing to work with me and who all but referred to J and K as BAD color, I found an excellent jeweler who could see the beauty of my K and the beauty of ordering the matching sidestones. Also, I was pleased to learn that ordering the ring with J sidestones made it cheaper. I''m here to say it CAN be done, if you want. But you might really like the contrast. So fear not; whether you like the contrast or not, you have options, and can absolutely get the look you want.

I''m late to respond to this since I didn''t have the photos off the camera at the time, but this is my K with med. blue flourescence. The diamonds in the halo are all G-H color. I have to be in a really bad lighting situation to see much of a difference.

It's also been my experience that the camera is much more sensitive to picking up the warmth than can be seen in real life.

One of my friends went from a 1.70-ish J up to a 2+ carat K; we took several photos of the stone, all of which appeared much warmer in pictures than it did in real life.

I wouldn't say that J is 'better' than K; it's higher on the color system and therefore more expensive, but that doesn't necessarily make it 'better'. Some gals actually prefer warmer colors, while others are bothered by them. This has become even more evident to me since I fell in love with vintage stones, which often range down to M and N in color and look amazing.

I'd focus most on wearing the stone and seeing if *you* like the way it looks. If you do, you're able to get more size - YAY. If you don't, you can always trade it for something higher in color.

At the risk of sounding crazy - it''s actually the same stone in a different halo! About a year after I had the original halo done, I saw a setting that had a split shank and larger stones in the halo and decided I liked the sparkle of the larger stones. The setting is also higher and has a U-shaped undergallery with diamonds set there as well. I had my friend who is a bench jeweler make this ring and I really love it! We made some changes along the way and it was a long process, but it was worth the wait!
