Low to High Setting-please help!

My fiancee bought me this beautiful original antique engagement ring from the 1920s but I want the diamond to sit up higher. Right now it's low and flat. It's a 1 carat center stone with 14 round side stones. The ring is platinum.

Can I safely raise the prongs to make the diamond sit up higher?

You''d have to post a picture for anyone to give you an opinion. But I imagine you''ll have to take it to someone who does custom work to see if it can be done.
