I found an asscher (0.94 J VVS2) that I love the shape of. It is more octagonal than square which I prefer. It does have a bit more color than I would like, but cut and shape is more important and once mounted it may not be noticeable. What you guys/gals think? I'll also post the setting I'm thinking of.

Here is a pic

J is going too show a noticeable tint.

I wonder who is cutting these so I can smack em, this is the 5th one iv seen that way recently.
They cut a really nice asscher then mess up the P3 angle.

The regular pic is showing decent but weak light return center. might be ok.
The IS is tilted and showing worse light return center.
Which Is right I cant say.
Need more pictures of this one.
In a spring setting on someones hand would be best.

Sorry but this would not be a setting I would put an asscher in. The asscher has an angular art deco design to it. All the curves of the setting you picked seem to contradict the lines of the asscher. The setting would look better with a round, but that''s only my opinion. My favorite asscher settings are simple and don''t compete with the stone. They show off they shape.

I agree... that setting would work best with an oval or cushion.
Even the princess clashes.

What is a spring setting? Do you have an example pic or something? I have about $1000 for the setting. Thank you for all your help! Everyone on this site is extremely helpful!

What about this setting? She has a size 6 finger and wants side stones but nothing too big. I have no clue on what settings look good with what so any help would be great.

I like that setting a lot.
The downside is cant wear a wedding band up tight against it.

its a fake ring that springs open too told a stone.
Stores use them too let you see how a diamond looks on your hand.
You may have seen them.

Hmmm I REALLY like that setting you posted. Are you absolutely set on having an asscher? I like the setting much better than the stone you showed. Just approaching this from a different angle--

I love the second setting you posted, but I am thinking that your budget may not allow for that amount of pave, done well and to your liking? Asschers are such gorgeous, but clear stones -- a lot depends on personal perception of color/warmth but I don''t know if I would drop to a J for this cut. What would you think about putting almost all your budget into the stone for now and getting the best Asscher possible in a very simple setting, and then choosing the dream setting later? (anniversary, etc.) Just a thought, for me I would want the best color/clarity I could manage in an asscher cut.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I''m gonna get the stone. I really like the shape of it and asschers with wide corners are harder to come by. If it has too much color for me then I can always send it back. JA has a pretty good return policy. The stone is only $2660, which is very much in my budget. Like Babysteps suggested, I can always upgrade the setting later.

unless you like a bit of tint I would not buy a J. My EC is an I and shows some tint, in some light, at some angles (never face on).
