Any tips for getting rid of my love handles. Wedding is Jan. 1st and I would like them to be gone by then.

I've learned that it's pretty hard to spot-reduce if not impossible. However, I have found that this works for me:

Stand with feet shoulder width apart
5lb weight in one hand
Opposite hand behind head

Lean your body to the side that you are holding the dumbell. Dumbell should go down to about your knee or where you feel it burn.
Be sure that your feet are both firmly on the floor, you don't want to topple over! Bend at/from the waist, not shoulders.

Slowly come back up
Repeat 10-20 times on each side

This is more of a waist sincher/oblique work out, but I find that it also helps with love handles!

Thanks for the tip Mashira, I will definitely be trying it out today or tomorrow.

You just have to lose weight the old fashioned way. Unfortunately, we can't target a particular spot, we just have to drop some pounds and hope they come off of where we'd like them to come off. When I was a PT my clients always wanted us to target a specific area for weight loss, and it just doesn't work that way. You can target muscles for muscle growth, but not areas for weight loss.

However, didn't you start the boob thread? You might risk losing size in your chest if you drop some weight, instead of around your waist. On the other hand, if it comes off of your waist, then the loss will make your chest look bigger by comparison, so maybe you'd be happier with both in that scenario.

Where do you normally gain weight first? And where do you lose? For me, it's always consistent. I gain weight in my face, upper arms, and waist, in that order. And I lose in my face, upper arms, and waist, in that order.

Good luck! I hope you learn to love yourself just the way you are, of course. ;))

Yep, that was me. I was always afraid I would lose my boobs if I exercised too much, but thankfully, so far they have stayed. I recently changed my diet for good (so did my FF) and I lost 10 pounds. Now I'm 5'7 and about 118-119, and I have a really tiny waist (always have). I have an hourglass figure but the love handles have to go. I don't want to lose too much more weight per se as I don't want to be an unhealthy weight. I'm hoping toning and cardio might work.

I too have rather large hips. I have a very tiny waist! But my love handles, blah! They are so big I have to wear a size 12 in jeans and pants. My waist is so much smaller! When I go to the gym, I lose my boobs, and my hips remain!! Grrrr

Try doing general Ab and core workouts.

Do you know how to do crunches where you cross one ankle over your bended knee then lift only one side to do the crunch? Kind of vertical, elbow to opposite knee?

iIt's hard to explain, but do you know what I mean?

That should help!

Like others have said, the only way to really lose love handles is to lose fat overall. Try doing some sprint intervals, those are great for burning fat.

I just took weight lifting for an easy A and now I'm working with a trainer. You can't target one area (as everyone else said). The only answer is Cardio Cardio Cardio. Yuck, I know.

Yep, to get rid of love handles you just have to do cardio and consume less calories. Do you really have love handles or just some squishyness at your hips? I think that's pretty unavoidable regardless of size, particularly if you're curvy in general.

Cardio and pilates.
