Anyone think that Sayid has been ''reincarnated'' as Jacob?

As soon as Sayid woke up, my FI immediately said ''It must be Jacob!''. I also think this is a strong possibility!

I wonder if there will be struggle between ''Locke'' and ''Sayid''. I still think it is up for debate whether Jacob is really the ''good'' entity...

Should be an excellent season!

I agree. I think that could be the big shocker in the end

Locke seemed like he was trying to be positive for the people around him. I think he was making up the ''walk about'' but they didn''t really give any details to know for sure.

Sun & Jin still seemed to be having problems in their relationship too. Maybe not as bad, but he did have all that money she didn''t know about. Also, she seemed to know English still (but unwilling to let people know).
Jin still asked Sun to button up her shirt. If my DH said that to me, I''d unbutton it! lol

When they first took the trip, Sun knew English but Jin did not know that she knew which is why she wouldn''t speak it.

Read this Theory about why the island is under water:

http://forums.abc.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?nav=messages&webtag=lost&tid=22625
Ooooh, I'm not even going to read this yet. . .I do like a few suprises.

There was Boone's sister who wasn't on the plane with him this time. . .Basically many things in the past before the plane ride changed too. . .also Destin (sp? Penelope's boyfriend) was either on the island or on his boat (forget which) when the plane crashed, however, this time around he was on the plane.

Oh, and my DH flipped out that the bomb went off simply because Juliet banged on it with a rock. He said that nuclear bombs do not go off simply by impact like that. He has a degree in physics and read a few books on nuclear bombs, so he's probably right. He yelled at the TV a few times. lol

Yep, she had the english tutor/lover!

HOW MANY PEOPLE LIVE ON THIS FRICKIN'' ISLAND?!?!?!
the Others, the people hired by Widmore, the plane crash survivors... and then there''s a whole little village living at the Temple! and don''t forget that originally there were the Darma Initiative, Rousseau''s team, Desmond, the military who planted the nuclear bombs... and even Eko''s brother crashed on this island. considering so many people have been to this place, it''s amazing that it still remains a secret.

Richard really never ages. I mean you can see that Jack aged as an actor, but Richard seems to stay ageless. must be magic eyeliner. well, at least we now know how Ben''s life (as a teenager) was saved when Richard took him to the temple. does that mean Ben is also posessed by someone else???

they shouldn''t have brought Boone back. he''s not the same. he''s acting more like the confident vampire (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) than he is the irritating, insecure boy he was on the island. and where was the sister he likes to sleep with, Shannon? she must have been stuck in the toilet for the whole plane ride with Michael & Walt.
3.gif
I can understand why they didn''t bring back Walt due to age problem, but it would have been cool to see Michael.

why was Desmond on the plane??? that was weird. do you remember when he was on the plane? was it before or after the turbulence that would have crashed the plane? maybe the timing makes a difference.

I like your theories that maybe Said is a reincarnated Jacob. what is Jacob''s nemesis'' name? do we know? maybe Jacob is the bad guy and keeping the "nemesis" prisoner on the island. and whoever mentioned that Juliet knew that "it worked" because she glimpsed the sideways reality... I like that theory, too. I guess she had to leave to save the world from V.

and where did Christian Shepherd''s coffin disappear to? did it end up on the island? is there a link between Christian and Locke''s dead bodies???

I don''t know why people say this episode answered a lot of their questions. I don''t feel that it really did.

Lauren - the link you added has a really interested theory. I just don''t understand why it would make sense that Jack is older... ah wait... unless that is not the original Jack who was on the plane in Season 1 but a Jack who traveled back in time... oooooooooh.... interesting............

Finally got to watch it...and loved being able to ff through the commercials! Was anyone else really annoyed that Boone''s sister wasn''t back? It seemed like they brought back all the dead characters who mattered except for her. I''m wondering if the actress (Elisha Cuthbert) was asked to come back but refused...that would really annoy me.

I like the idea that eventually they will be faced with a choice to either continue on the island or go back to their "would have been" life!

I also think Sayid is a reincarnation of Jacob.

Shannon was played by Maggie Grace. Article says she had just done a bunch of movies. Sounds like she was just busy. I can''t imagine having my character killed off in a TV show and then being expected to drop everything to return back for a short time. . .

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b151772_maggie_grace_not_confirmed_return_lost.html

Sabine- They wanted Maggie Grace to come back but couldn''t work it out. Hence, Boone''s comment that he couldn''t get her to leave her relationship in Australia. Which is another way in which we are shown that in this "plane narrative", a lot of things are different. If Shannon never got on the plane and it never crashed, she also never met/loved Sayid but she also never died. So she could theoretically show up later in the season.

I think Jack saw Desmond AFTER the turbulence. Also, if indeed a "reset" happened, Jack and Desmond never met on the stadium steps. Which means Desmond might have never gone to the island.

My head hurts!

It''s common knowledge that Michael is back this season, but in what capacity we don''t know- i.e, in the plane narrative or in the island narrative. One would be that he never died since the plane never crashed, the other would be that he either came back from the dead or never died in that explosion. I have my theory but I won''t say!!!!

And they''ve said Walt is too old and they can''t figure out a way to bring him back.

My question is where''s Vincent????

Did anyone catch last night''s episode?

It was sort of "meh" for me, definitely a filler episode.

I loved seeing Claire at the end though
36.gif

.

I thought it was pretty good.

A few things stood out to me:
1. Kate''s reaction when Claire said Aaron''s name...
2. The fact that Claire said Aaron''s name!
3. The "tests" that they did on Sayid are (mostly) things that have been used to keep Smokey away.
4. Ethan''s last name was Goodspeed.

A few questions:
1. Is Sayid "infected" by Smokey and NOT Jacob, like I had thought before?
2. Is this infection the same thing that got Rousseau''s team?
3. Was Ben infected after he was in the spring as a child?

I always get annoyed when Kate chases after Sawyer, but since that''s what she always does it wasn''t surprising.

I think the guy that plays Sawyer has had some amazing scenes already this season.

Were two episodes played back-to-back? DH and I turned the TV on at 9 and it appears we missed an episode. On the Comcast guide it said that the 8 pm show as a repeat so we didn''t turn the TV to the Lost Channel till 9.

They showed the last hour from last week (LA X - Pt. 2) first (at 8 ET), and then the new episode.

If anything goes wrong, Desmond Hume will be my constant.

Grrrr. . .we totally missed it. Okay, now the entire rest of the season is ruined! Life has no meaning. . .

Maybe I can find it online.

There was a whole slew of things that I dont understand. I find it so hard to keep track of every thing that has been said in 6 seasons.

DH and I discussed Aarons name. For some reason we thought it had something to do with Charlie, but cannot quite remember.

Kate gets on my freeking nerves. I have not liked her for about 2 seasons. She is annoying! She is constantly getting in everyones business and chasing after people that she shouldn''t be. Honestly I think the show would have been just as good without. It seems that all she is is a love interest for Sawyer and Jack and a way to bring the group back together when they separate. If I were on that island I would have told her to mind her own business and leave me the heck alone. *aah, glad I got that off my chest. Rant Over*

How is it that Jack is clean shaven and Sawyers sexy stubble never gets any longer?

When Juliett said that it worked it doesn''t make sense to me. If it worked they wouldn''t have to do something else to fix the situation which they obviously will.

Sayid seems pretty normal to me. And I found it odd that they said that the "infection of the darkness" is the same thing that happened to Claire and then at the end of the episode she is not evil.

Obviously my fingetips are rambling. I am

I seem to find issue with a lot of the Kate-centric episodes, but I liked this one, even though a lot of the hardcore fans didn''t.

My question in terms of Sayid''s infection/hostile takeover is that; I wonder if there''s a 3rd entity that we haven''t yet been introduced to.

Jacob and his nemesis (I like to call him Black Shirt Guy, or BSG for short) have already made their stance apparent. BSG found his loophole (reminscent of Dogma''s Loki and Bartleby needing to find a loophole to get "home") and Jacob became the martyr. According to those rules, there appears to be no one in the way of BSG getting home now. So, why isn''t BSG already gone? What''s keeping him there?

However, we saw that one of the Others (Mac from Always Sunny - loved seeing him here!) alluded to the fact that Rousseau had been dead for years, and the traps couldn''t have been set by her. We later see Claire clearly reminiscent of Rousseau, and thinking back on her hanging out in Jacob''s cabin with Christian, I''m wondering if there might be a 3rd entity that BSG needs to battle with before he can go home.

Also, did anyone else freeze the screen at Aaron''s ultrasound??? The date was 10-22-2004. Didn''t 815 take off in September? Did it take the plane a month to land?!?!?

I think Juliet had to die twice to make the point that there are two different paths, the plane path doesn't exist yet, though. The second "death" was kind of happy, IMO because given the fact that "it worked", it could mean that she flashed to her "alternate timeline" (like Desmond did when he met Eloise Hawking and Charlie in his alternate "life") and saw that she's alive and well and possibly knew that their lives were going to reconnect anyway. This show always hinges on the idea of fate vs. free will, and I think the Losties will be able to ultimately choose which paths their lives will take.

All we know about Claire from the end of the episode is that she's not on the side of the Temple Others - the same as Rousseau constantly battled the Dharmite Others. From Dogeh's perspective, she, and possibly Sayid, could very well be evil in terms of their ultimate motives against the Temple Others.

I also have to Say, Josh Holloway's acting over the past 2 seasons has been so much better than his brooding badboy character before he fell in love with Juliet. I was in tears when he confessed to Kate that he was planning on proposing to Juliet.

But then the PSer in me was like "where did he get an engagement ring on that island?"
3.gif

this week''s episode has got me confused as well. surprise surprise.

I thought Sayid would be posessed by Jacob. I didn''t think he could be posessed by "Smokey" because Locke is already posessed by him. BUT if Claire is also posessed by someone, then maybe "Smokey" and/or Jacob can claim multiple bodies. I always thought that Claire had left the island (they let her go in the submarine, though I doubt she''d willing leave her baby). HOWEVER, if Jacob can posess multiple bodies then it would make sense why we saw both Claire and Christian Shepherd both in Jacob''s cabin many seasons ago. because after all... Christian''s body was also on board the plane and "claimable".

I was just reading up on lostpedia, and didn''t remember this:
The day Claire went missing, she woke up and realized Aaron was gone. She then found him being held by Christian (his grandfather). Then Sawyer woke up and found Claire missing and Aaron crying all alone. So Christian took Claire away. Apparently later, Christian on behalf of Jacob spoke to Locke and told him Aaron was where he needed to be. Is that with Kate?

regarding finding an engagement ring on the island... he could have just stolen it off a dead person.

I hope this season also tell us what they did to Ben when he was a child to save him and if he is also infected.

So folks, thoughts on last night''s episode??? I was so excited when I saw that it was new because this week has been full of repeats. I guess ABC knew it''s Lostie fans would rather tune in to that than the Olympics.

I thought it was a great episode, I still have more questions though...

Wow. That epidsode was amazing!!!

I could not stop laughing at drunk Sawyer''s responses to the Locke-monster... "well, I guess I better put some pants on."

Who was the little boy? And why could Sawyer see him, but Richard couldn''t? I think it was Jacob as a child.

Why wasn''t Kate''s name on the wall? Or was it, and we just weren''t shown it?

Was the name "Shepherd" referring to Jack or Christian?

They definitely are positioning things so that it''s unclear whether Locke-monster is evil or Jacob is evil. All the talk about Jacob manipulating people was convincing last night.

LOVE Rose. And seeing Hurley and Ben in Locke''s sideways life was fabulous.

The title was "The Substitute," right?

So is "Locke" serving as the substitute for Jacob''s nemesis AND as a subsitute teacher? Kinda cool.

Love this show so much.

I thought it was a great episode too. Way better than last week.

I think the young boy is Aaron. I''m curious why only Locke and Sawyer saw him and not Richard.

Someone mentioned that maybe Jack and Sawyer will be the new good/evil on the island.

Did anyone notice that Kate''s name was not on the wall? Or did I miss him showing her name?

I''m interested to see where they are going with the names on the wall.

Love this show so much.

Locke questioned whether the writing was for Sun or Jin; however, with Kate''s name not up there (and no other women) it makes me think the name was for Jin. Maybe women aren''t eligible to be vehicles/hosts? I know they said Claire was infected at one point, but from what I can tell people need to be dead to be possessed (Jack''s father and Locke were both dead bodies "delivered" to the Island), and she was very much alive at the end of the last episode. Also, did you notice the scale when they entered the cave and the stones on it-one white and one black? Locke took the white stone and threw it out of the cave, metaphorically showing that the balance of power was now out of whack in favor of the black team. An interesting connection, in the first season when the Losties start looking for a place to settle they find a cave and a spring with two dead bodies in it. They named then Adam and Eve. Along with these bodies they found a black stone and a white stone. The story never carried on the theme of these stones until now.

That''s a great point... I remember a few years ago when people were saying the show had no direction, the writers said that they DID know how it was going to end and that the Adam and Eve scene would prove as evidence that the storyline was thought out...

Agreed, HH. Who is that little kid that told Locke/BSG "you know the rules . . . you can't kill him"? Eek! Was that kid actually Jacob? Was it Aaron? Is that why he's special? The first time Locke/BSG saw the kid, he was standing in the "Jesus" pose in a cone of light with bloodied hands and wrists. Just a WTF moment.

So, what we learned from this episode is that Jacob's touch influenced all the decisions that the Lost-Listies have made in life, which brought them to the island.
In the alternative/not yet created/sideays timeline it appears that none of those butterfly effects took place and so the alt that we're seeing (Locke is close with his Father, Kate didn't kill her Father but did kill someone, etc) is by LACK of Jacob's touch and lack of "need" to go to the island....?

Also, we see all of the numbers assigned to the different Lost-listies, and 23 is Shephard. By some coincidence, one of my friends posted Psalm 23 on Facebook yesterday morning; "The Lord is my shephard".
23.gif

I'm assuming those that are crossed off are just ineligible to be candidates, either through death or infection, or some other failure to pass Smokey/BSG/Locke-monster's scanning.

Thought last night''s episode was great!

Food for thought: we only "know" about the candidates and purpose b/c FakeLocke/MIB told us. So it''s possible he isn''t the most reliable source. I think some of that is probably true, but he is leaving way too much out.

I did think of Psalm 23/Shephard and checked out the other Psalms that coordinated with the numbers but didn''t find anything interesting.

Interesting that Kate is not on the "list" as she was definitely "touched" by Jacob.

"Littleton" was on the wall but crossed out (Claire''s last name). But Littleton could be Aaron. Or Shephard could be Aaron too (as Christian Shepards lineage).

Loved the Locke/Sawyer centric episode. Both Terry O''Quinn and Josh Holloway are doing outstanding work this season.

Loved seeing Ben as a smarmy teacher! And how perfectly "Ben" was his eulogy of Locke. I miss evil Ben, he seems a bit "lost" these days.

Now that we know Sayid could be a candidate (or at least we can assume if NotLocke/MIB was telling the truth) it makes his "testing" aka torture more interesting and makes the idea that they were seeing if he had become the "new" Jacob more plausible.

Did anyone else think it was weird that they actually SHOWED us the names and numbers on the cave wall and had NL/MIB so explicitly explain these??? Either The Powers That Be decided to be really nice and actually give us some answers, or it''s all not what it seems. DH and I froze the screen and found all the names and then I was a bit annoyed when they so obviously showed us the list. I kinda felt condescended to.
2.gif
For all of these seasons, we (the audience) had to do all the work and now they just hand us "the list"????? Hmmmm. Could be easily explained by the fact that they have a finite number of episodes left and are just trying to give us answers/move the story along.

Oh, and did you all catch that FL/MIB is now pretty much stuck in Locke''s body and can''t shape shift anymore???
