Los Angeles Jewelry District - recommendations needed!

Hello all,

I live in the greater Los Angeles area and am planning on buying an engagement ring very soon. I am wondering if anyone has any experience purchasing diamonds in the Los Angeles Jewerly District - and if so - any recommendations on certain dealers/stores to buy quality diamonds from for a fair price? (or ones to avoid!)

I live in LA and that's where I have and would buy my diamonds.

You'll get a much better diamond for much less money.
These pricescope vendors are all 100% reputable.

Plus if there is a problem (not likely) you can call them on the carpet right here on this public forum, and have the world watch how they resolve the dispute.

You can't do that with ANY brick and mortar jeweler.

Hello Siversparkler, and welcome to PS. In addition to the excellent recommendations by Kenny, above, I can think of a couple of fabulous jewelers in LA that have excellent reputations here on PS. I have been planning a 20 year anniversary upgrade and am scheduling a trip to LA early next year to visit these jewelers! I would check out Single Stone, which specializes in antique stones and settings and beautifully crafted reproductions. Another great jeweler is Jewels By Erica Grace which is similar but, as I understand, smaller. I''m not sure if they have a storefront but I''m sure you can contact them online or by phone and get the details. Both of these jewels are known for their high levels of customer service and personal attention.

There is another place called 23rd Street Jewelers in LA. I don''t know as much about them but you can search the forums for more info.

Good suggestions from both kenny and gayletmom! I've purchased from Wink Jones at High Performance Diamonds (he;s based in Idaho, I think) and from Single Stone (they've got storefronts in LA's diamond district and in Pasadena) and both transactions/pieces were magnificent.

Do you know what style of ring and which cut you're looking for? That sometimes helps narrow down the vendors a bit. What I love about Good Old Gold and High Performance Diamonds is that they can shoot videos for their out of state clients, in addition to the other detailed photos/technical information.
