Hi all,
I am wondering if you could give me some advice. We got the tacori HT232612X setting since I fell in love with it. I have small hands and so the petite setting version looked better on me, but we wanted a diamond that was larger than a 1.1 carat which is the maximum size that is recommended. Our jeweler told us that we could get a max 1.3 in there. I had wanted at least a 1.5, ideally a 1.75, but I really wanted the setting, so we chose a better quality diamond. In any case, we got our diamond set in the store display setting.

What I have been noticing however, is that the prongs appear to be too small and now the diamond is spinning about a quarter of the way around the setting and when I shake my hand, I can hear the diamond is loose. On top of that... through reading through the forums, I have learned that we could have had a custom setting made by Tacori that would have exactly fit my diamond in whatever setting I wanted.... AND I could have had my bigger diamond, but I was not given this option!

So the dilemma is now we are taking the ring back to the jeweler to have him tighten the loose setting, how should I handle this? We bought it in Feb and we spent over $25000 in the store for the setting and diamond! Will the setting ever be secure and will I always have to worry about the diamond coming loose and me losing it? Should I say something to him about the custom setting?

hmm, well I do know tacori will do some custom work. But, many designers will not put a larger diamond on a band designed for a smaller one because it effects the integrity and durabilty of the ring so your jeweler could very well be telling you the truth. If you are unhappy with the ring, you can always express this to the jeweler and see if they will work with you, possible take the ring back as a trade. Does the store have an upgrade policy where you could upgrade your stone to the size you really wanted? The fact that you''ve had it since feb though leaves me to think that any return period would have expired. As for your diamond moving, just a guess but it''s possible the prongs need to be tightened and your jeweler should be able to do that. It''s recommended that you get your jewelry checked every 6 months or at the least every year to help minimize any problems. your ring sounds beautiful though, got any pics?
