Some of you may remember me from my original posts about the beautiful custom 3 stone ring I purchased from WhiteFlash. Recently my FI has noticed that one of the side stones is loose. The diamond spins freely in its mount. It does not wobble, but rotates freely when you move it. I've looked at the ring under magnification and don't really see any evidence of it taking a knock that would have set it free.

Is this type of thing typical? I figured I'd check here before I called WF, I know that their policy states if it is manufacturing related they will fix it and I wasn't sure if this was something that would fall under that category or if I should just take it to a local shop instead of dealing with shipping?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Believe it or not, something as seemingly simple as clapping your hands (think percussion) can cause diamonds to loosen in a setting... So something does not necessarily have to ''happen'' to the ring for things to get loose and it isn''t really a matter of who made the ring. Give WF a call and I''m sure they''ll be happy to assist you with it and/or it sounds like something that a local jeweler could fix up for you in a flash.

That is pretty much what I figured which is why I was trying to figure out if I was going to end up paying for the repair with WF and the cost of shipping, I might as well try and find someone locally.

I recommend going to a local jeweler. If it just needs tightening, it will be a snap. If it needs more than that, get an estimate for the repair and make your decision then. Sometimes the setter cuts too deeply into the prong and make the prong weak. If it keeps loosening this may be the problem.

Is it insured?
