My boyfriend and I are looking for that perfect diamond for my engagement ring. I just have a few questions...
-When is the best time to buy?
-Are there any other certificates that are pretty decent other than GIA? (I want to have a laser inscription on my dia.)
-How does this diamond sound? quality-wise and price-wise.

AGS.

Color, clarity, and do you have the GIA number?

There is no GIA number available.

I''m trying to figure out, what depth, table is decent.
Also, I wanted to know what a fairly good dia (f color, vs quality) thats approx. 1.20 ct. should cost.
I dont know what fluorescence is... I''m guessing from what the definitions I read, it is best to find a diamond without fluorescence. Is this true?

thanks

We need the crown and pavillion angles to help judge cut, without them we can''t tell. Read the advanced tutorial about cut to learn about depth and table and their effects.

Flourescence you can do a search for and find lots of info as this question comes up frequently. In a nutshell, flourescence is a phenomenon where some diamonds show a bluish glow in sunlight and UV light. Blue is the most common colour. Flourescence is graded negligable, faint, med, strong and very strong. Flourescence is believed by many to make a lower colour diamond face up whiter, it has many fans. It can be considered undesirable in the colourless diamonds. Faint or med may not be that noticeable, but it depends on the eyes of the viewer. My diamond has faint and I can see it clearly in some lights. Strong can very rarely cause a diamond to look oily or milky in some lights, but this effect is very rare.

It isn''t best to find a diamond without flourescence, it is a preference and it depends on the circumstances. I would always prefer a diamond with it than without it, unless I was buying a D which had strong blue for example, that is my preference. Many find that flourescence adds interest to their diamonds and does help to improve the colour. Another poster said it beaitifully a while back - I think it was F&I, that flourescence makes a diamond look more " plugged in." I think that is a great description.

So to sum up, don''t fear flourescence. In faint or med you might not even notice it anyway.

You have got great advice. I just want to stress that F/VS is more than "fairly good" quality - it''s actually a very rare and fine combo.
May I suggest considering G colors as well? This will widen your research without compromising the looks.

Thanks.
This was really helpful.
I found it somewhat hard to find a ring online that had the information you asked for. the information I gave is probably the most I can find.
Any suggestions?

Hi! No one will give you more info than this first link.

And this place also gives you what you need.

http://www.whiteflash.com/

I have purchased from both, both were great to work with.
