Hey everyone, so been learning a lot and somewhat know what I should be looking for but would love some help from the experts here.
looking for a 2 ct excellent cut round ring. Im from Toronto so with our dollar being so low now am I better off purchasing from a canadian retailer? My budget in canadian is $17-18000. Hoping for the setting duty and basically all in for $20000.
What do you guys think of HTHP diamonds? I've posted under the lab diamond forum but no response. It appears that prices are roughly the same compare to natural diamonds. I did some searching on here and most of the ones I found were H-I in colour and si1-si2 in clarity for my budget with an excellent cut. Would a diamond of that size have a great sparkle and appearance with those ratings?

Please share anything you come across. Would prefer a PM as Im sure there are ppl here lurking.

I can't speak about the currency dollar value thing as I am in Dubai. However, in my personal opinion you should try to avoid going down the treated diamond route. I am sure you should be able to get a very nice natural untreated stone with your budget. Try posting a new thread under rockytalky asking for help to find a stone. They will need budget and ring setting ideas in order to help you. Good luck.
 
I live just outside TO and honestly even with the dollar being lower right now I would still buy from one of the preferred vendors here.

There are some great experts here, are you open to having them help you find a stone?

Also, you could cross the border and pick it up. I did that when I purchased my ring around the same value - no duty or taxes then. :naughty:

You might want to start a new thread. Perhaps label it "Please help me find a 2ct+ RB, budget of $17K" then perhaps you'll get more help and hits. I will try and look for a few stones later, just heading out to a movie with my kids.

Next your all in budget is 20k CAD, that's 17000 USD total.

Next, what color and clarity are you looking for?

Finally, does the 17000 USD include import taxes, etc? Because if it does we have to account for those.

I think a nice I SI1 is a great choice.

I'd like to know more about the setting though. Settings can often cost a LOT more than people expect.
 
Agree, the setting can make a huge difference.
