So I am looking at rings but am still a few months away from buying that. Her birthday is coming up in about a month though and I want to get her a nice piece of jewelry. My budget is $1000 for this gift. She doesn't really have any nice jewelry so this will be pretty special I think.

I was originally thinking a pair of diamond studs but it doesn't look like $1000 is going to get me very far. So now I'm thinking about a DBTY necklace. I would still consider earings if I could find anything nice in that budget. I just don't want them to be so small that they are pointless. She wears a pair of fake ones now. At the same time she wouldn't want anything really big. I don't even know what an average size is when you start talking total weight. I may need to go into a local store just to see what the sizes look like.

I was looking at the whiteflash by the yard necklace in white gold

Is .50ct total big enough? Seems very small but maybe that is the point with this style of necklace. She is modest so maybe something dainty like that is the way to go. How about the 16" chain? Is that a standard size?

Are there any other options in this price range? I did see that BGD has one (which is where the e-ring is most likely coming from) but it is 10 diamonds vs 7 and still .50ct so the diamonds would be even smaller.

I purchased some .5 tcw martini set white gold diamond studs for under 1k around Christmas. The stones were very nice had a lot of pop in them from how small they were. Needless to say she fell in love with them!

Start with the setting you want. There are three basic types 3, 4,and up to 6 Prong. Each setting presents the diamond different and each woman’s preference is different. 4 prong are a traditional setting I personally think they look old fashion. I chose 3 prong (martini set) because they make the diamond look bigger! Bigger is better especially when you’re on a budget. The 6 prong I would only use on very large diamonds.

You can defiantly find a nice pair of .5 tcw diamond studs for a budget of 1K maybe even bigger if you have a wholesaler in your area. Around the Dallas area would couple find a nice set for 600-800 that size and setting.

I'm not usually opposed to preloved items but for this particular gift I want it to be brand new.

Now that I've spent some time on the show me the bling forum for a little while I think the DBTY is going to be perfect for her.
I see BGD has a 7 stone for 1150. It is 18k white gold. Signature melee stones.
The WF 7 stone is 900 for 18k white gold. ACA stones.

Is the BGD worth the extra 250?

I may save the earrings for after the e-ring.

I love dbty necklaces. I personally can't tell the difference between the two necklaces, design wise. Are they both 0.5tcw?

The dbty necklaces are supposed to be fairly delicate but thats great cause they go with everything, you can layer it with other necklaces or hang a pendant off it to dress it up further.

i think its a good choice for your budget.

That is what I was thinking. Seems like a pretty versatile piece.
