I read on here somewhere but forget where I could find an ideal scope? I remember it was a package that came with an ideal scope and tweezers or something like that for $40 bucks. Anyone know where I can get one?

Ideal Scope sell for $ 25.00...

Loupes ( a good one ) is $ 40-100)

Tweezers $15-25

So if you found all three for $ 40.00 then the tweezers and loupe are not the best one could get.

Cheap tweezers are not recommended by me, as they don't hold the stones securely, and can damage stones if used by an inexperienced person, particularly in the table to culet position.

Loupes that aren't color corrected or aberration corrected are an excuse for the right item.

Equipment is pricey if you want quality. You need fine quality to evaluate the stone properly.

My advice... buy the right quality item rather than looking for a bargain...in the long it pays.

If this is just for playing for a short time, you're better off finding a jeweler with a scope and see if he'll let you use it, rahther than waste your money.

I think you're talking about Dave Atlas' site. He sells the IdealScope, loupes and tweezers.
