I''m closer, got it narrowed down a little.

I know the setting I am getting can take anything .90 and up to a 1.2 carat weight. I was initally looking for stones in the G color, VS1, in the .90 range. I was searching around and noticed that for not much more I could get a H color, VS1 in a 1.00 carat for similar price (in the $4700-5200 range).

As the stones get bigger is it easier to notice the G/H color differences? The ring itself is 18k white gold. I figured a stone that was "more white" would show/work better with that kind of setting but I am a guy, and can''t tell too much of a difference.

The first time I was being quoted diamonds they were all H I think, maybe a few G''s here and there but were SI and I knew I wanted better than that. I''ve searched high and low online trying to find answers to this stuff but it''s hard.

I am just wondering, as I go up in size is the color more important? I''m only looking at stones that are good very good or better. That''d be the minimum that I would be willing to go. I want to try and keep things all in the middle without sacrificing too much.

I doubt you could tell the difference from a G to an H.

I was almost thinking the same thing. That''s why I asked. I figured since they are in the same group of stones (G/H and I) that an H would be pretty decent. It''s just amazing how much more a G is than an H in the same size.
